  • Apple's Mac reaches 9.2% share on the web as Windows PC use sinks to new low

Apple's new 12 inch MacBook is reportedly the company's best selling Mac model.

Blasts a hole in the argument some people have been making about it being a big mistake and no-one was using it....

When it first came out I mentioned in comments here I thought within a year it could very well become Apples best selling laptop...
Only one frustrating thing has held me back from buying a lovely MacBook 12".
That's the single external port, which I occasionally need for more than one function.   Of course that's IMPOSSIBLE, UGH!!!  :s

  • Apple expands iPhone Upgrade Program to include online purchases

    fallenjt said:
This's right way to do it. Just forget about carrier upgrade, but buy unlocked iPhone directly from Apple to avoid carrier activation fees. I did it on my wife's 6S directly from Apple and paid it off.
Good idea if the price is right.
Currently in Canada the iPhone6s & 6s+ at the base 16GB sell for a far too high C$899 & C$1029.

    In the USA they are $649 & $749, for a  1.38 & 1.37 exchange rate to CDA.
The exchange rate was at it's maximum of 1.45 very peaked in Jan2016, it's is now 1.27 and dropping.
Since they aren't made in the USA, Apple is winning on the high US$ both ways.

  • KGI says 'iPhone 7' won't have 'many attractive selling points,' predicts competitors to outperform

Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities continues to have a bearish outlook on iPhone sales through the end of 2016, telling investors on Sunday that he believes Apple will be the only top-five smartphone vendor to see shipments decline this year.

To stimulate growth, Kuo believes the iPhone "needs a makeover" to attract consumers. It's expected that the "iPhone 7" will sport a new chassis when it debuts later this year, but the analyst apparently does not believe that will be enough.

Instead, he believes Apple is on track to release a major redesign in 2017 with a glass back and OLED display. Since most smartphones on the market feature aluminum backs, he believes switching back to glass -- as Apple did with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s -- will allow the company to stand out from competitors.
OMG  he wants a glass back on the iPhone7 !!!    As an iPhone4 user, I wouldn't buy another glass backed iPhone.
Actually I cover the back anyway.  Doesn't he see all the iPhones in lovely protective covers ?

Hey Kuo it's mainly the software that makes the difference at this time, plus high price outside of the USA.
Apple's iPhone prices in CDA are far too high, the iPhone is mostly not made in the USA
and probably doesn't even visit there on the way to CDA.
I expect the iPhoneSE will show high sales plus profit
and Apple will still make very good profit overall because of the favorably high USA $.  :D

  • iPhone SE reportedly 'squeezing' marketshare from Chinese smartphone makers

Most people don't want to buy a 2 year old phone. Especially since that phone has ZERO warranty.

People like to buy new stuff. If not no one would buy new cars.

I disagree with your point about old iPhone hardware. A $300 Android phone hardware would destroy the performance of an iPhone4s or even iPhone5.  Its Android that makes these phones run like crap not their CPU/Ram/GPU.  Put iOS on a high quality $300 HTC/Motorolla phone and it would out perform even an iPhone5.

Yes a used phone will never be on my buy list.

Google wouldn't allow iOS on any android phone.
Google would no longer get spyware info, so it would be very negative on Google income.

  • BlackBerry kills BB10, will work on mid-range Android phones instead

    pmz said:
BB10 was dead before it even launched. How can these companies be so blind?
Yes BB was fading out then. I have a BB Playbook, which I got because I wanted a smaller tablet than Apple's 10" iPad.
I also wanted to evaluate BB for investment reasons.   There is much function missing in the Playbook software.
It's SW hasn't been updated for over a year and I'm losing regularly Apps I use.
The Apps are going, no App updates and no new Apps !
Soon I'll have to trash my BB Playbook, as I trashed my Palm.
Of course my iPhone4 is gradually losing it's iOS functions, even as an iPad, but my iPhone5c is kept up to date.

I know a few personal buyers of the BB phones, they aren't aware of how much better the iPhone is.
They are just stuck on BB, probably because they had been getting cheap clear out models
and they believed BB saying the BB10 was leading edge. Also they like the BB security story.

So how can BB use android and continue to say they are secure?   Android is Google spyware, period!
Nice knowing you BB !!!  :'(
