  • Epson's EcoTank ET-4760 review: a multi-function powerhouse at a steep price

Personally I cannot fathom why anyone would ever buy an inkjet printer. I switched to a laser printer ages ago and saved so much money in the long run. I do need color from time-to-time so I added a color laser a few years ago. It’s more expensive than B&W (duh) but still much cheaper than ink, way faster, higher quality, and no smudges or worrying about my printouts getting wet and smearing.

The only legitimate use that I can think of for inkjet printers is for photographs, and it’s far more economical to send them out than to print them at home.

Canon’s ImageClass printers are top notch and feature rich. My color printer not only prints duplex but also scans duplex which is handy when I’ve got a stack of double-sided documents to digitize.

  • iOS 14.4 and iPadOS 14.4 released with new Find My Items support, improved HomePod mini Ha...

FWIW, it appears to have also fixed an annoying bug where anywhere from one to four of my pinned conversations would be randomly unpinned every.single.day. I don't generally install betas on my phone, but I put 14.4 RC on last week and haven't noticed this issue since.

  • Sideloading iPad & iPhone apps is back on Apple Silicon Macs, but probably not for long

The bolded has absolutely NOT been the case with the developers that we've spoken to.

They've made the choice to disallow their software on macOS for a reason, generally related to something not working right. That's not stopping the support requests.
I suspect there's more to it than just that. I've separately purchased OmniFocus for iOS and for MacOS. They've got feature parity, but the interface is somewhat different. Imagine, however, if I could sideload the iPadOS version onto my M1 Mac. Maybe I'm just not that bothered by the interface differences and just want to save money.

Now OmniGroup has lost revenue on selling both licenses.

I suspect the loss of revenue has at least as much to do with why a developer would not want their iPadOS/iOS app running on MacOS.

  • Early Docker build demonstrates incoming Apple Silicon support

    This.is.super.exciting!

It sounds like there is some hope that Docker + Rosetta will even allow existing containers to run...? This is the Christmas present I’m hoping for 🙂
