  • Tim Cook praises Trump in US tech titan meeting

I have to wonder how Steve Jobs would handle this situation. From what I know of Jobs I can’t imagine he would be kissing Trumps ass, but much more likely to tell him to go to hell.

  • iPhone 17e may be nearing test production ahead of a 2026 launch

I would expect Apple to keep its late February/early March launch for the e phones. Coming at the midpoint of the cycle for the regular and Pro models, it brings renewed press and marketing attention to the whole iPhone line-up at a time when, up until now, the only iPhone chatter has been about what's coming in September. And with the 16e being an all-new model, you can bet right now that the 17e will be the same phone with a chip upgrade.

My wife was just issued a 16e by her company as her work phone, and I have to think this phone has been a huge hit for enterprise. The phone is unexpectedly gorgeous in person--I think the best looking iPhone, hands down, and really premium feeling in-hand. The black model is stunning, the Darth Vader of phones, with a true black back (finally!) and sides to match the black screen when inactive. Honestly, if I didn't love the camera system in my Pro, this would be the iPhone I'd buy--slim, light, minimal camera bump.
Totally. I went from a 14 Pro to the 16e in black. I think it is the best looking and functioning iPhone ever made and I had just about all of them up to 14 series. First time going without a case since iPhone 3GS because it looks so good, using a pouch. Only things I’d change is adding the Dynamic Island and sensor shift image stabilization. The Dynamic Island is missed for easy access to whatever I might have playing. And the camera is great for a single lens, but low light and movement aren’t up to par without sensor shift.

  • macOS Big Sur 11.2 now available with Bluetooth fixes for M1 Macs

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and since installing Big Sur I’ve had problems with poor Bluetooth performance, very slow waking from sleep, and glitchy messaging. I’ve tried resetting the BT module but that hasn’t helped. Hopefully 11.2 will fix the issues.
I also have a 2017 MacBook Pro, since Big Sur I've had terrible battery life, messages not synching and sometimes not sending or receiving, and just really slow. I ordered an M1 MacBook Air last night, but since the update to 11.02 today the Pro is running better than it did on Catalina. I'm debating whether to cancel the Air oder, I don't really need an update, and my Pro is in excellent condition. The battery life was the major concern, it was only lasting 3-4 hours on a charge just browsing the web, email, and messages; and the battery would drain rapidly when asleep. So far, the battery seems fixed. The Air is still tempting though with the new keyboard, better ergonomics, even longer battery life, the M1: better performance and up to date, silent operation, and a little lighter...hmm
