North Dakota rejects anti-Apple App Store bill drafted by Epic Games lobbyist
I guess calling it "Anti-App Store" is one way of spinning it. "Pro-consumer" is an equally correct way of spinning it. There's no reason why I should have to ask for Apple's permissions to install an app on a device I paid for with my own money. It would be no different than Subaru telling me I can only install kayak racks I bought from a Subaru dealer on my car. -
Apple security chief Thomas Moyer indicted in concealed firearm permit bribery case
marsorry said:Unbelievable, happens to the best of them I suppose. Wouldn’t it have been cheaper and safer to just get a permit???
When I had mine, I paid nearly $500 (to cover the 16-hour class, range time, and the permit fees). I paid $250 every other year to renew. In WA state, I paid $50 for a 5-year permit. And unless you have a criminal record, you cannot be denied a permit. -
Apple security chief Thomas Moyer indicted in concealed firearm permit bribery case
nikon1 said:“ Jensen reportedly managed to get Moyer to promise that Apple would donate 200 iPads, worth about $70,000, to the Sheriff's Office. Undersheriff sung also extracted from Chadha, the insurance broker, a "promise of $6,000 worth of luxury box seat tickets to a San Jose Sharks hockey game."
In California, it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm without a CCW license that can cost between $200 and $400.
So these 2 CLOWNS (Moyer & Chadha) risked their careers and wanted to avoid paying between $200 & $400 to legitimately get their CCW legally? They should be imprisioned for pure greed and stupidity.
What a pair of Morons!
California is "may issue", which effectively means no one gets one. -
Restarting your device resets default mail, browser settings in iOS 14
I wish I would've waited before updating to iOS 14. Probably seems silly to a lot of people, but I rely on the Up Next widget to show me if my alarm is set for the next. They've taken that feature away. It's really disappointing. I read that if the time is later than what you've set as your bedtime, then the wake up time is supposed to show on the home screen, but that doesn't seem to be working for me on my Xs Max.
Really disappointed. I don't know why they would get rid of this.
Also, a PSA for those who use the Bedtime feature. It's been moved from the Clock app to the Health app. And the upgrade wipes out your previously setup bedtime schedule. You have to add a new one. I'm really glad I checked before going to bed last night, otherwise I would've missed several meetings. -
Fitbit announces new Fitbit Sense smartwatch to help keep stress in check
I have a Fitbit Versa. I would never buy another Fitbit product again and it has little to do with their product. The problem is they limit the data you can see, even though it's being collected by your device. Want to know your minimum heart rate overnight? Good luck. Want to see your max heart rate for a workout? Nope. Minimum heart rate for a workout? Nope. That's a Premium feature. There are many more instances like this. The worst part is that the pause button is super easy to hit, so I'll get home from a ride only to find out that I accidentally hit the pause button while going over a rock and missed half my workout.
Lame.
