Apple faces AI talent turmoil as senior Siri researcher departs
These cracks began showing a while ago. It’s been a gradual decline over there and Tim seems to be floundering. You need a strong visionary leader at a company like Apple. One who is able to make the right decisions. Ignoring Siri for almost a decade was a huge failure in leadership. Under Forstall or Jobs Siri would have outstripped Ai before it began.I think Apple needs new leadership. The problem is finding a strong visionary leader. I don’t think Apple has any.Maybe entice Forstall back as CEO? I’m up for that! -
Behind the scenes, Siri's failed iOS 18 upgrade was a decade-long managerial car crash
Siri has been a failure due to a stunning lack of vision
at Apple about this. I blame the overall leadership team.Personally I love Siri and have since it debuted. I’m on iPhone 13 and use it daily to set reminders, alarms, check the weather, read SMS aloud while driving, reply to sms while driving and set timers. Its best feature is that it works offline. Unlike Google Assistant which is utterly useless if you don’t hand an internet connection.
I‘m not interested in the smart Siri they showed off. The only feature I want added is the ability to ask it a question and get an answer instead of saying “I found this on the web”. If I ask “are onions safe for dogs?” I just want an answer spoken to me based on a web search like Google Assistant does, with some results displayed on screen should I wish to view them in one web.But that’s it.I’m beginning to think Apple needs another Steve Jobs figure who thinks different and has vision and leadership because the organisation has grown huge but is less productive than they should be. I’m convinced there are thousands of employees test probably don’t need to be there.Fire them. Get lean. Get focused. Make insanely great products. Done. -
Apple thinks the iPhone 16e target market doesn't care about MagSafe
I get what Apple are saying, but the price is still very high. Couldn’t they just keep the 14 and drop the price? You would have had more features for your €700.
Maybe $600 is cheap in the US, but €700 is EXPENSIVE here in the EU. Especially for a phone. The regular iPhone 13 and 14 was barely selling at their prices which were less than €700. Local Resellers still have LOADS of iPhone 13 and 14 stock. They are now selling the 13 for €549 where I live. Just to clear stock.Which is how I got my new 13 last November. And even that was a stretch financially. We don’t earn much here in the EU, and living expenses are high. We don’t have disposable income.Don’t look at Germany/Austria/Denmark/Switzerland and the UK. They are the exception. Look at the rest of the EU and you’ll find we are mostly poor countries:Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain
On average the EU citizen is just barely surviving, working just to live. A €700 is definitely a luxury few can afford.
