  • Italian consumer group sues Apple for alleged planned obsolescence

The funny (and sad) thing is that those people might actually believe the story they are trying to sell. They think they are right.
Critical thinking is a skill. Not everyone is skillful.

I wonder how people who defended Apple for not allowing applications being installed from different App Stores feel now the apps for the social media platforms they love are being kicked off the store?
LOL - the "social media platform" you are referring violated Apple's terms of agreement.  Read up on contracts.  You agree to them and you either follow them or you suffer the consequence - "being kicked off".
You’re missing the point of my post, again. This seems to be a theme with you? If apple’s customers were free to install apps from a source other than the Apple App Store, why should it matter if an app is approved by Apple or not? If they can distribute it themselves without using the App Store then Apple’s rules aren’t being violated and people can choose if they want to use the app or not.
Please no installation from other sources.
Developers will suffer, because the hacked apps will be installed. This would mean less profitable for developers, less developers, less competition, less choice for consumers. Consumers lose.

People may not be leaving home as often as they used to but my dog still tries to run out to chase birds and squirrels so he’ll be the first of many anticipated use cases for me.
I'd like to get a good picture of where the cats go when they venture outside. Are they not coming back when I call them because they don't care (even if I have food) or are they so far away that they can't hear me? I assume it's the former, but I'd like to know for sure.
They are far away because they don’t care.

  • Microsoft Office with native Apple Silicon M1 support arrives

Public service announcement: most people don’t need Office. The apps bundled with the Mac for free (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) are highly capable programs that can read and write Microsoft’s file format and deliver all the features most people need.
for feature parity and higher compatibility you can get the free LibreOffice.
Now, if you have to work with complex Word layouts or Excel tables with macro programming, it’s a different story, but otherwise there is no reason to pay the Microsoft tax.
Most people do not know about existence of apple insider forum. And most people on this forum do not want to see this kind of comment (including mine :)).

     Lightning connector - why???

I would argue that a person who would buy such headphones would more likely to have a MacBook Air/Pro and/or iPad with USB-C than not to have such devices (thus have the charger and cable for it). And the use case would be to use this headphones primarily at home or while traveling.  And more likely to use AirPods (Pro) just outside their house on the streets or for jogging.

I was waiting for Apple to release this headphones.
But because of the lightning connector and price difference I would go with Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700.
Because there are perhaps over a billion more iPhones/iPads in the world than Macs ever made.

You misunderstand my argument. It’s not about what is more in the world. It’s about who most likely will buy it. Those who have iPhone 4 and Lightning cable won’t most likely buy it. Even though they have lightning cable.
But people who has Apple devices with USB-C are more likely to buy Apples headphones which cost that much.
Why? Because they have been already spending relatively high amount on Apple products. And it would have been more convenient for such a person to have a UAB-C on these headphones. And, of course, on an iPhone as well. But this move sadly shows that Apple has unfortunately decided to continue using Lighning connector.
It’s just convenient when I can charge with one cable any device I need to. And my choice lies on USB-C.
