  • AirPods Pro 2 are AirPods Max in your pocket, says Apple

I’ll never even consider buying AirPods Max... AirPods Max are the only “over-the-ears” cans I never feel comfortable wearing in public. So to sum up, the new AirPods Pro may be improved but not by much according to a friend who has just bought some. I’d definitely recommend auditioning Beats Fit Pro if you can (probably asking someone who has a pair) because IMHO they sound way better than the revamped AirPods Pro.
Fascinating example of split personality disorder. This poster doesn't own AirPods Max... would "never even consider" buying them... BUT... he also never feels comfortable wearing the headphones he doesn't own in public. Hmmmm... And then: he hasn't even heard the AirPods Pro 2, himself. His source for how they sound is "according to a friend who just bought some." BUT... his opinion, based on never having listened to to them, is that the Beats Fit Pro sound way better.
    Yep. Really funny.

  • iPhone 15 Pro rumored to get Thunderbolt connectivity

Apple did crappy job implementing TB connections so far.

The speed between iPad Pro M1 and MBP with TB is only 130 MB/s.
Physical SSD limitation on iPad Pro is about 500 MB/s (which can be reach with external SSD drive, but not with a direct connection to MBP. Physical limitation of MBP is around 2300 MB/s, which also can be reached with external SSD).

So even if the iPad Pro has a TB connection the speed it provides is max 500 MB/s. And in a usual use case for me - only 130 MB/s.

Not excited about TB on iPhone Pro….

  • Greg Joswiak confirms iPhone's future move to USB-C

I hope like hell they also add a Thunderbolt/USB4 controller while they're at it.

If they're going to be adding USB-C and allow users to take Pro Raw photos and ProRes video, they ought to supply a way to get the content off the phones in a reasonable timeframe.
They didn't do it for iPad Pro M1. I mean - they had the Thunderbolt port, but you can't get anything on/off it in a reasonable timeframe.
If you connect it to MBP with Thunderbolt 40GB/s, the transfer speed is only 130 MB/s.
