Apple cuts HomePod orders on weak demand, report says
Being an analyst seems like a pretty easy gig as you can just make stuff up. Click bait. Apple doesnt play the marketshare game. Did amazon sell as many as projected? Google? Wait... no one cares. These products barely register on a companies balance sheet given there overall size and profitability.
And in the end the market is in its infancy and the winner is far from being crowned. I def think Siri should become its own platform bc voice will be the next (r)evolution in tech. How far away we are remains to be seen but Apple have a good track record of skating to where the puck is going.
I like my HomePod. It does what I need it to and sounds amazing when playing music. IMO, It is easily the best siri experience across all the Apple products.
I kind of have the same feeling as I had about Apple Watch. There isnt that one killer must have feature but a bunch of little things that add up. Controlling HomeKit , asking about the forecast, how long to get to work, and playing music is really great. As Apple expands the feature set and opens up to devs these little things will really start to add up.

Apple Music hits landmark 40 million paid subscribers
Totally agree and I’d throw in my HomePod purchase sealing the deal. Easy as it was to play the music on my phone or through Apple TV, I didn’t “surf” tracks the same way, bouncing easily to another song as it took my fancy, or just throw on my New Music or Chill mixes. I just throw that at Siri now and away we go. Flippin brilliant.
AirPods have also helped increase my music listening. Prob my fav Apple product since my 1st iPod? I think they are incredible. -
Apple Music hits landmark 40 million paid subscribers
I was an iTunes match subcriber. I had 5-6k songs. But I had not purchased a new album since the last time I bought a CD. 5-6yrs. I lost track of new artists and didnt delve into older artisits catalogs bc I didnt want to spend the extra money. Sounds silly really bc I used to buy 2 or 3 CD’s a month. There was something about going to the store and buying the album that I reallly enjoyed.
Anyway, I took the 3month trial of Apple Music and I listened to more music than ever before. New and older stuff. I am constantly finding new music and older artists back catalogues which I never would have listened too (let alone purchased) had I stayed on Match.
I am now a paid subscriber and wish I had started sooner. It has renewed my love of music.
I am sure that I would be happy with Spotify but I am entrenched in the Apple eco-system and it just made sense for me.
Anyone else have a similar excitement level when switching to a full on streaming service? I have really loved it. -
Disgruntled HomePod owners say firmware update alters sound quality
Ran the update from work today. Got home and played ‘some music I like’ and IMO the sound was better. Btw, this is completely subjective.
**searches internet for anyone giving a damn about Google Home or Alexa’s software update that generated any headlinz and it was only alexa’s recent update where it apparently pauses longer to have a ‘conversation with you’. Which only means they are collecting (surveillancing) more data from you**
Homepod sounds awesome. Bring on Airplay2 so I can buy another. Thx
