  • Supply chain scuttlebutt stokes fears that Apple's $999 iPhone X price is too high

Well I live in Southern California and one of my concerns is I don't have a single person I've encountered who has the iPhone X. I've only noticed it out and about in the wild 3-4 times in the hands of others. There are still mountains of iPhones out here but not the X. I also personally returned my own iPhone X because reachability it a mess.

I also think there is truth to the pricing concerns. People focus on the pricing of the X but prices have risen overall. The highest end iPhone with every advanced feature available used to be $650. A storage upgrade put that at $750. The "low end" new iPhone now is $700. A storage upgrade puts that at $850. Since it doesn't have many of the tentpole features to drive sale since those are reserved for the X, you have to spend $1000 or $1150 respectively. That is a massive price increase no matter how people want to defend it.

For now I'm happy with my iPhone 7. That doesn't mean Apple is dying but if enough people decide their phone is good enough then we don't have the supercycle that justifies the stock price.
I was at Disneyland the Sunday after launch (November 5) and saw 3.

When is the last time (if ever) that Apple missed its own forward looking guidance?
This. Sales will be on par with guidance and the holiday quarter will be amongst its biggest ever.

  • Advanced TrueDepth camera, Face ID "major drivers" of iPhone X user satisfaction

Face ID makes me feel like I dont have password(s) anymore. It moves passwords to the background.

I do not miss the home button in anyway.

Dont understand the notch hate. I dont even notice it.

Battery life is really great, IMO. Best I have had in an iPhone.

Only thing that bothers me is the control centre access by swiping down from right ear.

Easily my favorite iPhone to date.

Double edged sword. Throttle the device, your not being transparent and are intentionally forcing upgrades. Tell people when the battery is faulty/needs to be replaced and they will claim Apple are intentionally forcing battery replacements or upgrades.

    The narrative is always anti-Apple.

People are going to be a lot more pissed spending $700 to $1000 on a phone than $ 79 on a battery.
Maybe. Have you worked in customer service? A lot of people will claim Apple are lying about battery degradation even though this is a natural thing in lithium-ion batteries. Whether it is $79 or $1000, the narrative about why they do this is wrong. They want devices to not turn off under load. People can say ‘be transparent’ but humans will just complain that Apple ships batteries that only last 24months or whatever length fits their personal experiences.

The problem I have is that people are going in to the Genius bar or contacting Apple support and them not recognizing the issue or explaining it to people.

Anyway, the narrative is Apple is intentionally slowing down phones to sell a newer device when that is not the reason.
