  • BuzzFeed fires 15% of workforce, shuts down BuzzFeed News

An unknown number of BuzzFeed and BuzzFeed News's redundancies will reportedly be offered positions on The Huffington Post, which Peretti co-founded.
Wow, as if getting fired from Buzzfeed wasn't bad enough - to go from there to Huffington Post.  You'd really have to question your life choices when it has come down to this.

Was there a part of the company that reported actual news or is this about news like "19 Extremely Entitled Or Privileged Things Celebs Did And Tried To Pretend Were Normal"?  If it's the latter, then they still have 85% to go.

  • New Apple Health-compatible Withings scale offers weight & body composition analysis

I think this article is missing some very important info: I believe this scales required a $10 monthly subscription fee for all the health data to be collected and sync’d
I would need to know this as a subscription would be a complete dealbreaker.  No freaking way am I paying a subscription for a scale.

I would love to know about the accuracy of the body composition analysis.

I have a Fitbit scale that has a body fat feature but I've found the results are several percent higher than the measurement from an InBody body composition analyzer.  Perhaps FitBit dropped the body fat feature from their product line because it wasn't accurate.  Or maybe InBody is inaccurate but that's actually a medical device so I tend to think that device is accurate.   I like to think that the increase/decreases on in measurement on FitBit are generally correct but who knows?  I can only use the InBody device every few months.  If the Withings scale is reasonably accurate, I might want one.

Should Apple file a libel and defamation lawsuit against this bozo?
It may be approaching the point where they could. However would that just fuel the guys paranoia and feed his “big bad apple trying to crush the little guy” narrative. They very well could figure it’s better to ignore him, keep slapping him down when he files suit, and eventually he will be just a crazy guy on the corner yelling at people passing on the street.
Just continuing the legal action is probably the worst thing they can do to the guy.  It's be a long slow Bleak House depletion of assets.
