Perhaps the emergency call is something that could be charged to and paid by one's health insurance / medicare / medicaid /NHS much like an ambulance?  I think this would be better than having users sign up. 

I'd expect most people would balk at a monthly fee no matter how reasonable and you just can't predict needing this service.

The headline claims that parts-paring is earning Apple billions but the article states that the company earns the billions through sales of AppleCare+.  People buy AppleCare as a form of insurance and this is NOT due to parts pairing.  AppleCare has been a major item for much longer than parts pairing has been an issue with iPhones.

Completely leaving aside the issue of whether or not Apple should incur the costs of environmental efforts, the notion that the customer doesn't pay for it makes no sense at all.  In the end, the customer pays for everything.

Seems like a good enough reason.  Can't say I'd like to watch an unlikable male lead either.  Is Apple under some obligation to fund projects they don't want?  What's the point of the article?  What's next?  Perhaps an article about projects that are canned due to crap writing?

Wait a second, I see it now.  The problem is that Apple didn't take the project they don't want because Coppola is a woman and not because they don't want it.  Boohoo.

I don't know about this project or most of her other work but I've always liked Lost in Translation.
