The Beatles have remained one of the best selling bands of all time.. They sold about 3.5 million albums last year and almost 1.5 BILLION albums cumulatively since their original release dates in the 60's.
Note, I corrected my statement. Left out "million"
I think this announcement shows how obsessed Jobs is with the Beatles and how much he likes them. Since I don't like the Beatles I can't say I much care.
But, the main thing is, how can people be disappointed? 36 Hours ago you didn't know about any of this.
Rationally, you?re absolutely right. But human expectations change rapidly and aren?t often based on the big picture, only the self. There is no reason to be upset over this.
It?s an option for those that want it, it doesn?t negatively effect the lives who don?t want it, and I know I certainly had fun yesterday speculating with others. No harm, no foul, and many will surely appreciate the inclusion to the iTunes Store.
?we now continue with our previously scheduled bitchfest about lossy AAC audio files.
Not that it matters to me (since I already own the '80s CD releases from Rubber Soul onward, and bought them again when the reissues came out last year), but...
How many songs are album only? Can you buy just bits and pieces from the White Album or from Past Masters (say, just "Revolution" and "Hey Jude")?

You want autonomy, that's the price of it. Your country has it's own laws, distribution networks, rights holders, and any one of those things can prevent you from getting the same content as the US. And it works the other way, as well. The BBC prevents most of its content from being available in a timely manner in the US (certainly the BBC app is blocked without a UK-based IP address).
All the old farts and geeks that visit here, and throughout the Geek/Tech blog-sphere, can't and won't relate to this huge announcement.
But to the MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of new listeners (yes, Kid's...ever hear of that market), who would NEVER purchase an album or a CD, this will be huge.
Expect Apple (perhaps both Apples) to announce how huge the spike of Music Sales for Beatles Music can be referenced to this very date.
Yeah,
Meh to you and me (and yes, I already have all 13 albums plus much more Beatles Music in my iTunes),
This is Apple's big announcement? I'm not going to forget it because I am a little more than disappointed.
Their music has been available on CD for a long time now. It's been remastered. Fans of the Beatles have their music in bulk by now.
Does Apple really think such a small deal is going to get everyone's attention? This announcement should have been made to stock holders, as they and a small group of Beatles fans are the only ones who will GAS about it.
What a pathetic attempt at generating buzz...
Everyone can go back to what they were doing, nothing to see here...

...why everyone has made this such a big deal for so long.
Surely anyone who likes the Beatles will already have the albums. It takes no more than five minutes to rip a copy to iTunes. You can also rip your CD in Apple Lossless, which is better quality than music bought on the iTunes Store, and you can almost certainly pick up the CDs for less than is being charged in the iTunes Store.
If there's a sudden rush for Beatles albums on iTunes then there are a lot of people out there not using their heads!

You're missing the point. This announcement has obviously ruined some people's lives forever.

The free concert video is worth a watch. It's amazing to see the reactions of people (especially women) to rock and roll back when it was new.
I can't imagine such hysteria to even the biggest stars of today.
Clearly you never saw footage of Michael Jackson concerts in the 80s and 90s. In Europe and Asia especially

So no the band that nearly destroyed rock 'n roll is available on iTunes.
What a waste of time.
Yeah because the world is full of poseurs who like what they are told to like and what they think will make them cool if they say they like.
So cranky!

Yes. If only everyone was a free thinking non-poseur like you.
$150 for the entire collection is very tempting
Dude, spend the extra $15 and by the actual CD set from Amazon.
