What do you think you would gain from OS/X on a tablet device? I continue to see this in postings here but really don't get it at all. Do people really think that they will be able to pull OS/X software off the shelf and be productive with it on a tablet? It would be far easier for Apple to extend the user interface in IPhone OS then to try to work backwards with OS/X. That doesn't mean however that we won't see features of OS/X on iPhone or this new tablet as some will port very well, the new dock being a perfect example.
With OS X we'll get a full Mac in tablet form, and not an oversized iPhone. I don't want to be restricted like with the iPhone.

Not only is there the mouse-touch screen issue, but the hardware specs would likely be significantly lower than the Mac mini and MacBook Air to get a tablet within the rumored price range, which means less "snappiness" and all the problems from there. This isn't much of an issue with an iPhone OS tablet, since iPhone OS and its apps use less overhead than Mac OS X and its apps. (It's not much of an issue either with a larger and more expensive tablet, like the rumored 13"/15" Mac OS X tablets.) It can be said that the tablet would not be for intensive application work, but basic tasks can still be done on iPhone OS.

Depends on the restriction?
iPhone OS tablet: "Limited" OS + high hardware specs (for the OS) ? software limited
Mac OS X tablet: Full-featured OS + low hardware specs (for the OS) ? hardware limited
My Ipod Touch is pretty much near perfect. The only issue I'm finding is now that I'm in my forties, the screen is just a bit too small. All Apple needs to do is increase the size, about as big as a small paperback (say 4" x 7", giving it a 6" diagonal screen) Still small enough to slip into a big pocket. That should give them a bit added space for a larger battery to drive the bigger screen. Call it the Ipod Touch Plus. Charge maybe 100-200 extra for it, keep everything else the same, that'd do it for me.
Increased screen size, like they did to the imac over the years.

Yuck. More of the iPod Touch S. ( Supersize )
Anyway, I strongly believe and am sure the iPhone and iPod Touch are electronics of different categories and one is meant to be a mini-tablet and a mini-Mac computer on the go, the tablet would be for artists and those who like chic computing.

? Shared data plans with iPhone (or tethering) $30 unlimited data for both
? Headphone jack
? iSight camera
? World-facing camera for augmented reality apps (imagine medical imaging with augmented reality!)

I'll like that price point please.
