Sorry Quad but you are wrong on this. IRQ...LOL it has been a long time since you have used windows. IRQ issues ended around Windows 98.
Actually I got it all the time in the past few years with XP, vista just went to a black screen, no message or anything. All from a faulty graphics card.
I think you are wrong there Captain. If (all) desktop sales sales increase by 3% this year, that still amounts to a pretty small figure. Only around 4 million PCs.... and Macs.
If Apple sells one million more iMacs than last year... then that will represent 25% of desktop growth.
We are in violent agreement. 1mil more iMacs is still a rounding error to the overall market but amazing for Apple.
I wish Apple had its own trade-in policy for Macs. I feel they could offer the most value to someone who wants to buy a new Mac, but still has a relatively "new" Mac to get rid of first.
I was an early adopter of the first aluminum and glass iMacs, the 7,1 gen, and this gorgeous 20 incher is still my main machine. It's coming up on 3 years old now, and hasn't had but one harddrive corruption caused by (or rather, occurred during) the 10.6.2 update.
As much as I like the new iMacs, Apple really hasn't compelled me to upgrade. I'd love to have one of those 27" bad boys with the i5 or i7, but the price premium isn't what I expect to be paying right now. I paid $1500 for my iMac 3 years ago, and to do better than that today, I have to spend around $2000. That doesn't seem like progress to me.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe i'm being picky and selective with my configuration choices, but for me to upgrade an aging machine, I have to see the value in it. To get a better iMac than what I have now, I'd have to spend more than what I spent on this machine 3 years ago. I'm not ready for that at this time.
(granted, this is because of the dollar, not because of Apple price gouging, but some won't understand that)

A joke, I hope.
So buy a Dell and spend that extra money on malware and viruse's!
Or viruse's.
Apparently not.
The plural of virus is viruses.
I thought the plural of virus was Lady Gaga.
You need to (re)join the real world and stop watching those comedy fact free I'm a Mac/I'm a PC ads.
PC's only have virii if you are cluess. Harsh but true.
Windows cannot fail. It can only be failed.
The plural of virus is viruses.
Bonus points to Mr.Pedantic there. I award you a golden turnip for your efforts.
Apparently not.
Ouch.
I think the plural of virus was Lady Gaga.
Double ouch.
Bonus points to Mr.Pedantic there. I award you a golden turnip for your efforts.
I don't think pointing out a common but completely erroneous construction is really "pedantic."
Think of it this way: he's saved you from being beaten to death by an actual pedant with poor impulse control.
