A recently released survey of US iPhone users by the Yankee Group has found that despite lots of complaints, the majority are pleased with AT&T, even more so than subscribers on other carriers.
If we removed all the postings by those here that don't use AT&T wireless, don't have an iphone, don't like Apple and don't like Jobs, I would suspect that this site would survey even higher results.
In all my research work, I can't imagine how one could get the reported high customer satisfaction rates found here and for the iPhone in general*† if it didn't function as intended. That would be like being happy taking your to the Antarctica because you love its sound system.
I live in Los Angeles and could not be happier with coverage here. Absolutely solid for the 4 years I've been a customer. Never drops a call. When I've travelled to San Francisco and NYC I have had no problems either. I think the bad publicity AT&T has received has been vastly overblown.

So who are these 73% ?? The service is awful everywhere I go. I have not completed two phone calls in 8 months and the data service is just as bad! For no reason my phone jumps from edge to 3g and back again and I can be sitting still in a chair!!
And this happens no matter where I am not any particular city, wether I'm inside or outside doesn't matter!!
apple blames it on AT&T and AT&T blames on Apple they both charge me to much money for the same crappy service!!

I didn't used to like AT&T until Steve Jobs told me I had to. Now I love them. I love my iPhone 4 and I love Apple. I want to worship at the alter of Jobs. Can I play here now?

You actually believe CR? Many, many times, over the years, experts have blasted CR for their total lack of acceptable statistical data collection. Their opinions are to be taken with a grain of salt.
I used to love my car. It's very fast, corners great, and very reliable and responsive. Then I read this article in Road & Track that showed the actual specs. Now I realize that this car is crap and I hate it. Thanks R&T for showing the me truth.

You haven't completed two calls in 8 months? I find that hard to believe unless your only calling from you mom's basement.
First of all I'm a 50 YO man and I have had service with AT&T and Sprint for about 20 years!
Sprint was a lot better when they first came to my area, but as time went on and more folks got cell phones the service went down!
Sprint is only good in the major cities. As soon as you get off the interstate Sprint's service goes off!!
AT&T has good coverage but can't keep up with the amount of subscribers! To many phones with not enough resources!!
If you would come spent a day with me you would see that I am exagerating a very little!
Maybe more than 2 but less than 1% of my calls meant to last more than 5 minutes makes it all the way through!
Most end with "call failed" or my family and friends telling me they either have an echo or I am breaking up!!
I have come to accept this as normal cell phone behavior!!
I know if I need to make an important call use the land line!!
The cell phone is just not reliable!!

Sounds like he is in a outlying area. Perhaps due to topographical issues.
I have the same problem nearby and found that by simply shutting off 3G, my calls remain connected.
In the meantime, I have put him on my ignore list. But as long as anybody responds to my ignores, they, unfortunately aren't hidden anymore.
