Please just integrate that into iBooks. We don't need another store. Honestly music, video, books apps and magazine should all go through iTunes App. Would make it a lot easier to get to where you want to get to and would not take up space inside your folders.
Oh really? The music business was going to fail? The people of the earth were going to stop listening to music?
They weren't going to stop listening, but they were already stopping PAYING for it. iTunes is the thing that turned that around. There is no question whatsoever, Apple saved the music business from causing their own implosion.

Okay. I'll buy the notion that iTunes gave basically honest people an alternative to stealing music.
Yeah, I wondeer what ever happened to my eworld account. I can't log in. Damn, Apple just doesn't care about us old timers. Now ping. What's next? sync, grep? Are they just going to go down the list of Unix commands and create new product names?

Well, they do have iSync. Grep is probably safe though-- doesn't really roll of the tongue as a product name. Note even iGrep.

Let's get some perspective here Apple worshippers. All Apple did was give people an alternative way to buy music. Now instead of going to Tower Record, or Virgin or Sam Goody, idiot teenagers with disposable income could get the latest pop or rap crap without ever leaving the house.
The music business was in trouble because it was selling garbage. Things are better now with real artists like Lady Ga Ga.
The music business is still selling garbage but is still surviving. iTunes Store has no small part to play in this.
It's not an alternative way, it is a major channel, that may surpass CD sales next year.
I don't listen to pop and r&b nonsense, I generally only listen to trance and progressive nowadays, and increasing number of these tracks are available for $0.99 on iTunes Store, which is great... Beatport, Armada, Audiojelly and so on charge more than that sometimes for such tracks.
Maybe Apple takes a bigger cut than Beatport, etc., that I can't be sure of.

In theory this would be great. I love newspapers content, but I hate newspaper. The form factor is just not very good.
Some things I think that are needed:
1. There should be the whole paper, and only one version of the paper. I don't want different pay scales depending what edition you get.
2. They should have competitively priced annually, monthly subscriptions with the ability to buy daily issues for the same price as the paper at a newsstand,
3. The whole thing needs to eventually be transnational. I would love to pick up my ipad in the morning and have the New York Times, Today, Facts and Comments waiting for me.

Definitely agree, except for number 2. ~ The daily issues should be *cheaper* than the newsstand paper version.

Apple seems to be focusing on the longterm success of the company.
Yes they do. Better than anybody.
The other thing they do well is to integrate their various product lines into a coherent whole, by making one product an adjunct to another.

iSudo. iPico ... Hey... the iPico. You just know they're researching something that will be called the iPico.
iMan --- now that'll be interesting.

It is one of the biggest achievements of iTunes.
