Tell someone you love them, and remember the important things in life...

"Hi Matt. I don't know how to tell you this, but Stefanie was in a car accident. A drunk driver hit her and she was in the hospital for a very long time, even in a coma for some of the time. She can't get on the computer yet because she fractured both of her arms so she wouldn't be able to type. I'm sorry. She told me to tell you that she loves you and not to worry about her. I was going to tell you about this earlier, but I couldn't remember your e-mail address. I'll talk to you later"

Just got that. It's from her cousin. Stefanie is my girlfriend btw.

At first glance I thought she was going to tell me she was dead...

I had a feeling something was wrong too.

I'm just glad she's still here...

The tone in letters or correspondances like that are always the worst. They always conjure that feeling in the pit of your stomach. I can sympathize man, she'll be ok...

I was straight edge up until the time I turned 20 specifically because of things like this happening.

For those who don't know, straight edge is a lifelong commitment to no drugs, alcohol, cigarettes... and some take it so far as no pre-marital sex. While it is supposed to be lifelong, and my intentions at age 13 were to have it be so, I felt at age 20 I no longer needed it.

At any rate, I'd say it saved my life during my angst ridden teenage years. I can't recommend it enough Most cities, especially college towns, have a sXe community. Good people

I have to say, Tiger, that the nature of that e-mail is very strange to me. Why, if Steph is your girlfriend, did you find out about it (seemingly) so long after it happened? Also, how far does she live from you? It sounds like quite a distance.

Incidentally, I'm glad she's still with us. Who knows, maybe the casts on her arms will make things more...interesting between the two of you for a little while. *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*

Her car accident will change her live, she will see the life from a different point of vue, putting the things at the right place. If you love her you should visit het at the hospital : she would know what is important and what is not essential.

I have to agree on both counts. It does seem strange you were told apparently so long after the event. I'd want to be told as soon as possible so I could be with her. I'm surprised Stefanie didn't tell her cousin your phone number or email address after she came out of the coma.

I'm happy your gf will make it. Recieving a phone call at work from my sister telling me that her 16 year old son (my nephew) died the night before from a hit and run drunk driver will always remain in my memory...

All the best to her and yourself. Yeah, and drop everything and see her now!

That's the tough part, I would do what all of you said and pack my bags right now. I wanted to visit her about a month ago but she won't let me.

Maybe this will put things in perspective and she'll let me be there for her. If now isn't the time, when is it?

I have a lot of different emotions running through my head right now....angry, mad, sad, frustrated....but thankful.

Yeah, you see we hadn't talked for aquite a while (almost a month), and she's done this before to me where she hasn't come on or whatever so we could talk, so I honestly figured that's all it was. However, a few weeks ago I got this weird feeling that something was wrong (almost thought she wasn't alive seriously). Of course I always worry when she tells me I shouldn't, but I decided I'd better contact her cousin to make sure things were ok. Then I get that back...

I wish I was contacted sooner & maybe have her cousin or somebody call me, but maybe it's a good thing I wasn't right after it happened. I would've been scared to death.

I'm surprised no one knows your phone number since you're going out with her...3 years?

Why would she not let you visit her? She loves you.

With all due respect and sincerity Tiger, something just doesn't seem right there, man.

She hadn't talked to you in a month, no one said to themselves, "Gee, maybe *Tiger* should know about this. He is her boyfriend," she doesn't want you to see her, and it doesn't help that she lives that far away. Hmm.

I'm thinking you need to be a bit more assertive regarding where you stand with that, or I see bad things happening between the two of you.

Sorry, I didn't mean to give you relationship advice.

You guys are right, and they do know my phone number. Could've called me anytime.

I'm glad you guys see things the way I do. I've been trying to tell her the same thing for a long time. I'm just greeted with replies of "It's not the right time" blah blah blah. Actually I'm wrong saying she's my girlfriend now, because I broke up with her a little while ago. SHe's still my baby and I love her more than anything, still plan on being with her forever.

I just can't stand for that. It's like....I'm being pushed on the back-burner. Me, I would always go out of my way to show her that I love her more than anything. I just don't know...
