So what? The desktop version of the g5 HAS to have altivec. Apple would demand it, and since apple is reportedly doing some of the design...
But really, apple has thrown a lot of money at altivec and would not abandon it for anything less than altivec 2.

I was referring to Motorola's roadmap for the G5
family of processors
, not just the MPC8450, which obviously is not intended for desktops.
