i think most of you over-react when it comes to guns.

i can understand if someone desires a gun.

don't just flame him - talk about it!

i did a couple of years of karate and tijitsu - i could kill someone with my hand. but i don't.

i learned how to "not use it" in that way.

owning a gun isn't something cool. it comes with responsability.

if someone is "grown up" enough and trained on weapons/respects them - it's ok with me.

the more laws "simply against guns" - the more people go on the street to buy guns and do not get the proper training and advice.

    that is the key.

    flame me!

when I moved from the USA to Europe (Italy) i had heard how tough it was to get any kind of firearm. Automatic weapons are totally illegal, only armed forces can have them.

I first thought it was rediculous since I was so 'pro-gun' but after a few years, you just realize... heck, no one has guns (almost), its actually safer here afterall and its not just some silly "the feds want control..."

The US is different and such an approach would never work, but you get my drift.

    i live in switzerland.

every male (unless you are a ill or disabled - or a total idiot) has to do military service here.

every male between a certain age has a fully automatic assult-rifle or 9mm handgun at home.

but i can't remember the last time somebody got shot with a military rifle or handgun.

and if you think switzerland is all peaceful and save: i can show you places here where you don't want to be at night.

people who get training with their weapons seldom use them to commit crime.

simply "not allowing guns" will make no change in crime-rate.

i can get a gun in my city within a couple of hours -with no permit.

There is another reason why I want a gun.

I have a few businesses downtown. I frequent casinos, night clubs and bars.

It is really dangerous down there, I would feel much safer with a gun.

I am always too scared to walk out fo a casino with a few thousand in my pocket at 2 a.m.

The car... well I could cut a deal with one of my friends and get one cheaply and easily.

My father doesn't know anything about this so keep your mouth shut.

Oh and about girls... I do have a few already.

Hey peve,do you have a URL for that macobserver article?
  • Reply 52 of 61
O Christ, these guys at macobserver really take things seriously:

"It appears that AppleInsider's forums do harbor true corporate spies and the forum chatter leads this observer to believe that money has changed hands in the past for Apple's trade secrets. Can AppleInsider be held liable for aiding and abetting criminal activities and shut down -- much like a social club that is in reality a front for prostitution or drug dealing?"

I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but this is the first I have heard of it.

    You don't need a gun.

However, you need a car to have sex with someone other than yourself.

How's that for brutal honesty?

Just looking out for your best interests,

    You have a few businesses?

Can't you get your "business" contacts to get you some guns out of the trunk of some other "business" contacts?

if you are serious about defending yourself you don't need a gun.

trust me carring a gun does not make you feel saver when you are in the wrong place with the wrong people.

"there is allways a bigger gun"

streetknowledge and a good eye will protect you far better.

every bodyguard will tell you that.

if you have to pull a gun - you did something wrong.

i wouldn't get a gun for that reason.

in fact thats the key element in budo, too.

you do not prepare to use it - you sharpen your eye and your senses (did i spell this right?). that is the better solution then having to use karate or tijitsu (or a weapon).

2 years of german and you'd think i'd have a clue as to what these guys are saying...

anyway, i would personally say screw the gun, as i have no use for it. your need for protection tho shows that you and i obviously are nothing alike, so my opinion would have little weight in your view. but, honestly , a couple of uzis?

I didn't see this mentioned before, so...

It is a federal offense to be in posession of a firearm on a university campus. It is pretty highly enforced too. So if you get the weapon, and go off to college in the states, don't you dare think about getting that within ten feet of your university campus. For some reason, people get real uppity when the students are more armed than the campus cops

Actually, I know some universities have cops that carry firearms, but still.

Wow, really? How long has this been true? When I was at UO, several of my friends had guns in the dorms!
