Yes, yes, and most definitely YES!

The Princess Bride is a wonderful book, and the movie is about as perfect an adaptation as you could ever hope for.

    "evildead" - simply brilliant

    "tremors" - just genius

"clueless" - timeless/classic, highly intellectual despite what has been said

"moulin rouge" - haven't seen anything like that visually in years

"american psycho" - just too hot, burned me - i ran out to get new business cards made...

Okay, for real: I like a number of John Sayles' films - Matewan, City of Hope, Secret of Roan Inish. There are more by him that I like but those films come immediately to mind. I also like Bian Lian - a Chinese film. Chinatown is an all time favorite too. I'm sure I'll think of more but for starters this is a good list.

Like I said, I'd think of more - American History X.

and i noticed a bunch of poeple mentioend pulp fiction, but no one seems to have put Reservoir Dogs up. it was also a very good tarantino. many of the same players in both flicks.

I saw only the last half of Reservoir Dogs, and man, what a cool movie. Better than Pulp Fiction, and a lot better than Jackie Brown. I loved it when I saw the part where two of the guys try to hijack the car when they make their getaway. I think it's something I'll get on DVD, if there's a DVD version of it available.

Tarentino is trendy violent tripe with a stylish flair for novelty.

the only truly great movies listed above, In my not too humble opinion: are Burnt By the Sun, Brazil and maybe some Lynch movies if you look at them from the right angle,

    That and Kurosawa's Ran

The rest is Hollywood drivel, even the chinese films are just formulaic in that hollywood slightly off-center way.

    Truly great films:

    Fanny And Alexander

    Andrey Rublev

    Mephisto

    Mallic's the Thin Red Line

    Apocalypse Now

    Satan Tango by Bella Tarr

    Koyaanasqaatsi

    Annie Hall

Godard's Histoire Du Cinema (all three parts)

    Passolini's Medea

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (get it for $6.99 from <a href="http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=PROFRAME&PROD_ID=37741"; target="_blank">Overstock.com) - Visually one of the most stunning movies I've ever seen. Great choreography, too.

    Fight Club, of course.

    The Matrix

Mulholland Drive - I've seen it 5 times and I still don't have any idea what really happens in it. But damn is Naomi Watts hot.

    LA Confidential

    Fargo

edit: to whoever said Big Trouble in Little China:
