nothing could compare to the amazing super bowl of last year. simply the most awesome ending i have ever seen, next to the "one yard short" ending to the rams/titans super bowl.

no one can ever, EVER, EEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRR take this one away from the bucs. i've gotten calls tonight from people from high school i never though i would hear from again. the suffering was so long in tampa bay. don't ever let anyone ever doubt...

tampa bay didn't "not lose the super bowl," the WON the super bowl.</strong><hr></blockquote>

I don't think last year's game compares to Eddie George going down at the one yard line. For one, the Patriots really shouldn't have been there.

Anyway, yeah, you never stop running, just like the Bucs did after the interception. Imagine if Pittman or Alstott had broken through one of those times near the end of the game. What would they have done...stop at the 1-yard line, turn around and kneel or go out of bounds? Silly torifile.

I loved that one quote at the end..."The team that invented losing..." hah! Over-all, I wish Tim Brown could have gotten his ring...because he's probably never going to get it now, but the Bucs just ruled tonight.

torifile, SPJ, i like both of you. i think you're stand up folks (for being anonymous people on the internet and all), but, please, let us have this.

the first interception was for years 1976-78, the second interception was for years 1980-98. you'll never understand how bad it was. the bucs should have run it up 98-28, just to prove to the world, and to themselves, that this wasn't a fluke. it was hard work, good management, freakin' GREAT coaching, etc.

when you have as sh!tty a lifetime record as we have had, you'll understand.

p.s. eugene, i think that was kevin dyson (or some other wide receiver), not eddie george. i remember, because i wanted someone -- ANYone -- to stop the rams juggernaut that year. and i nearly died on that last play. ugh.

EDIT: Dammit, rok, I liked it better when you said "shut up."

That makes an even better case for the classiness of NOT going in for the touchdown. The time was almost up, and they were going to win anyway.</strong><hr></blockquote>

No, because it wasn't planned. See my comment about using running plays to wind down the clock with a huge lead. If you find yourself in a stride, you don't stop. If you find yourself with 20 seconds left with your offense on the field, then that's different. The offense dictates the play. The defense does not.

Seriously, wide open field, a chance to make history, the biggest stage the NFL has to offer... what the heck are YOU going to do?

Ha? who cares if it was unnecessary... it's still part of the game... i think it would have be lame to run out of bounds. I'm not even a TB fan.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Funny you should bring that up...lol...

I was with some friends at a bar to watch the game. You know that "squares" game people play? Where you try to guess the two end numbers of both team's scores? Well...one of the guy with us had 1-1 in his office pool. Score is 41-21 Bucs with 11 SECONDS LEFT....and the Raiders threw that last pick. He had just run over to hug some OTHER guy who had 1-1 in his own pool...just like that they loose out on $500 apiece. This is why I don't gamble .

Oh and BTW, if I was that DB who picked that pass...I sure wouldn't have run out of bounds. He'll be able to say he scored a TD in the Super Bowl years down the road. Sure it was in garbage time...but it's a TD. If anything I think so many people were on the Raiders' bandwagon that the Bucs were happy to twist the knife a little. Now would all the Raider fans please be quiet? Thank you .

Yeah, it was Dyson. For some reason I keep thinking it was George.

okay, SPJ, just for you... "shut up."

    happy?

two years ago on the last game of the season northwestern scored 3 touchdowns in about a minute. (to come back and win)

you never ever ever don't score.

a classless thing would've been if juden get's the ball back up by three scores and starts going for the end zone instead of killing clock.

besides gannon gave up in the first half anyway on that touchdown interception......he had a chance to tackle and let up....brett favre would've brought him down.....

NOTHING makes me happier than seeing the Raiders lose. They suck dick, ass, horse cock, sheep nuts, Yeti scrotum...everything you can imagine. I hate the fücking wetback loser mexican assholes in LA that think that the Raiders are the greatest. I fücking hate the fücking loser scumbags with paint on their faces and their fücking hairy, dirtbag girlfriends...I hate everything they stand for. But most of all, I hate their pathetic lives, but love their sorry ass stupid fücking faces as they watch their shitty pathetic team get blown out like the fücking losers they are. Rich Gannon, MVP. Most Valuable Pussy. Nice 5 INT game, Rich. You fück.

I think so too Eugene. (That's why I conceded a bit early- because the spontaneity of it all really made it hard for that player to make a decision like that. But, boy, if he actually stepped out of bounds on purpose, that really shows some class to have that kind of awareness in such a spontaneous situation. That kind of selflessness is what I'm talking about. Think about it: years down the road he could tell his kids- "Kids, when I was your age I could have scored a touchdown in the SuperBowl. It may not mean anything these days with 4D video games and what have you, but I didn't score that touchdown because it just wasn't right." Eh, but like you said, who's thinking about that?)

as posed by bruce lowitt of the st. pete time just minutes ago...

"Like a man who has outgrown the bumps and bruises and coloring books of childhood, these 53 men in red and pewter have finally and forever locked away the frustration of the past five seasons and, before that, years of Creamsicle-colored ineptitude. The Buccaneers sail home today with their most precious, long-sought treasure. "

one more thing, if a raider would have happened to be between him and the endzone, the raider (jeez especially a raider!) would have tried to tear his freakin' head off.
