It's kinda like poking a stick in a cage ain't it? I'm flattered you felt me worthy of your little pearl of wisdom . Have a nice day Sunshine!

You guys are talking like a touchdown with 2 seconds left was the make or break play of the game. I'm not talking about taking knees with 2 minutes left. That's different because the outcome is still undecided. With 2 seconds left? There's no doubt about who's gonna win. I have the same problem when in the last second of a basketball game that's already been decided, a player dunks. Anyway, I guess if you're only goal in life is to have an extraordinarily memorable game, it's hard to make a decision like that. I know I'd have trouble with it too. It doesn't mean that it would have been a nice thing to see. After all, it is a sport. You know, like 'sportsmanship'? Bah, whatever....

Sportsmanship is more like not whining about a defensive-back doing what he's supposed to do.

It 2 seconds left *after* the touchdown. They even had time to score the extra point. It doesn't matter how much time was left on the clock. Defensive backs never step out of bounds in situations like this.

15 seconds on the clock and Gannon throwing the ball means the defense keeps playing. They keep playing all year for this. Why are you trying to take it away from them? I'm pretty sure the Raiders aren't feeling the sting of 48-21 much more than 41-21.

all i have to say is tom tupa better savor that ring, 'cause he sure as hell is NOT coming back next year.

let's see, he f*cked up the punt in the first game that gave the saints the win, then he f*cked up the hold on the field goal to ice the game that gave the raiders a drive for a touchdown, AND he f*cked up another punt that gave them ANOTHER touchdown.

retire, tom. now. just don't even get on the damn plane. call your wife, and have her fly otu to san diego. i hear it's nice this time of year.

That touchdown at the end enabled my roommate to score $250 in his Superbowl pool! What a lucky lucky break for him. I also feel bad for the guy who thought he had won, but alas... a TD with 2 seconds left. That's gotta hurt.

Overall, the game was just another case of a proven fact in football: defense wins championships. I wish the Raiders could have made things interesting towards the end, but too little too late.

Falcons and Vick baby, Superbowl 2004 here we come!

as marty strasen fromt he tampa tribune just wrote...

"Non-Bucs fans might not sit through the highlights, though. No one likes a blowout.

Unless you live in the Tampa Bay area. Unless you suffered with this team for almost three decades. Unless you remember Bucco Bruce."

if gannon didn't want them running up the score gannon should have taken a knee, and quit throwin' it to them!

Where's Jason Baker?...you can have him.

And what about Automatica...sure he's great and all, but he looks like a little kid in a Halloween costume. The Bucs need someone that looks piratey like Janikowski.

Nah, that's not right either, but nobody should call that last play unsportsmanlike. It would have been a very nice gesture, but that still doesn't what actually happened unacceptable.

see ironchef's roomy scored as well, think of all the gambler's and office poolers who got some coin.

sportsmanship is playing the game the way it's meant to be played. any football player would have taken that in.

martin may be a little spaz, but he's accurate as all hell. he just doesn't have a strong leg. i agree with someone who wrote that they should draft a strong kicker for kickoffs next year. be better than a thrid-string linebacker.

p.s. remember who the coach was who spent a first round pick on an awesome kicker like janikowski? yep. gruden.

nah i was just kiddin' although i think most raider fans would've preferred gannon to take a knee instead of continuing to throw to them

Basically what the Bucs have been doing to every opponent all year. It's like the CBs and safeties can see 3 seconds into the future and plan accordingly. All the interceptions were done by stepping right in front of the ball. They're amazing.

Unlike some of the others here, I think you run up the score whenever you can and that there's nothing unsportsmanlike about it, at all, ever, under any circumstances that could ever arise in a pro game, period, end of story. These guys get paid to play, to knock the snot out of each other, crush opponents and score points. Part of sportsmanship means you give it everything you got, if the other guys give up and mail it in, then you run up the score, fvck'em, they get paid enough money to drown their sorrows in cocaine and strippers, then they get paid enough to take a beating on the field too.

Are you guys telling me the idiot fans haven't destroyed anything yet, even after the loss? Wow, that is dissapointing, I don't wanna get lulled into a false sense of faith in humanity here, please, tell me a vehicle somewhere in San Diego is burning as we speak. Anyone?

I'm amazed really, nothing is happening in Oakland from what I can tell. Maybe a mass suicide.

There is rioting in Oakland being reported on the radio. You think they're mad now, just wait until they find out they got their asses kicked.

What's all this "class" bullshit? This is football. If you can score 800 points then you do it. If a team comes in as unprepared and unmotivated as the Raiders did you stomp them so hard their coach gets fired at halftime. I'm not even a fan of letting up when on offense, but if you're on defense you never lay off, not for a second. Even if you're on offense and running the ball to let the clock run you run the ball as hard as you can, and if you break off a 90 yard TD run that's the opposing D's fault. That TD-Pic was Gannon's fault, the DB was just doing what he should've done.
