The wedge shape looks like a good idea on the face of it, but I would have to hold one to be sure. I am still looking forward to the iPad 3 more than any other tablet, I have to admit.

In some cases their large purchases of limited components drives the price even higher for everyone else. This is why the other tablet makers aren't automatically starting their prices lower than the iPad, because if they do there will be little or no profit for them.

Isn't it strange if Apple can produce an iPad cheaper then Samsung since the most expensive parts in iPad is from Samsung?

The Apple "tax" is a myth. Apple has a gross profit of 31%. That is lover the for example intel over 80% and AMD 40%.

The difference is that 30% on a 700 iPhone makes more profit then 30% profit on a 350 dollar Samsung Galaxy.

Apple in iPad have some huge advantages over Android tablets.

    1) Their own A class processor. Tha A5 is 30% bigger then tegra 2. Since Nvidia needs to make profit on each Tegra, they sell at same price. This means that Apple can get a better SoC for the same price as its competitors.

    2) Controlling the graphic layer in the OS Apple can accelerate its OS with NOVA SIMD extensions. Something that Google can't do since they don't control the graphic layer. The SIMD extensions is the reason for example why encoding in iMovie on Ipad2 is often faster then on Intel macs.

    3) By controlling the App store, piracy is lover. Even if there are more Android devices, App store outsells Android store 8-1. To run pirated software on Android takes seconds. Google does not care, since they make their money from advertising. In fact: the easy piracy of apps is a great selling point for Android.

pointing fingers at Apple competitors to highlight their deficits (whether true, perceived or absolute falsehoods) with such rhetoric is childish and ultimately ineffective. Apple and Sony have, will and do deliver many quality products and services to millions of people worldwide everyday.

Right but then the question becomes why Apple's ideas about the modern age suddenly become the only possible solution, which of course is the source of various disputes over copying.

The idea seems to be that Apple's solution is so right and obvious that any other approach would be wrong and perverse. But that's just a really roundabout way of denying Apple's inventiveness and excusing laziness on the part of their competitors, because it pretends that Apple is just the first to happen upon what was always going to be the inevitable way of doing things and others aren't so much copying as coming later to the same inevitable result.

But that isn't true, of course, and settling for variants on Apple's approach robs us of the kind of true competition which might create solutions as startlingly new as the iPhone was at introduction-- that is denying the uniqueness of Apple's creations impoverishes the entire world of consumer electronics because it denies even the possibility of something equally but differently unique.

You are right, rememebr their LCD TV design that resembled a wine glass? It was a shameless copy of B&O's now discontinued design for theri CRT range in the mid-2000s
