RIDICULOUS! The iPad 3 has better wi-fi reception than my iPhone 4S. Where my iPhone 4S shows one dot, I get 3-4 with my iPad 3. I can use my iPad 3 in areas where other devices do not get a signal. I call BS!

Seriously? You posted to an Apple fan site and now you don't like the response to your post?

"Doctor, it hurts when I do this"

    "So don't do that anymore!"

If you don't like those responses, you can either not post your kind of post here, or just ignore them.

Trust me - your not going to get them to not harass you, and the more you protest the more it's going to fan the flames (oops - I'm just as guilty : )

I think your fundamental problem is your trying to have a rational discussion with the irrational. It's a trap I fall into more than I like to admit \

DocNo42, see my point? Because THIS guy doesn't have the issue with HIS iPad... he uses that as proof that the story is complete BS.

Can we please raise the level of conversation on this thread to something other than: "if you suggest there is ever a problem with your Apple device, you're full of shit and an idiot troll hater"

I just have standards that make me think people should be able to have rational discussions without the level of discourse we see on this thread.

At a minimum, open a ticket with AppleCare. You can do it via email even. Give 'em the same details as you did here. If nothing else, if a problem and solution is identified you will be directly notified. Heck, they may reach out to you for more information to help diagnose/solve whatever issue may be there.

They can't fix problems they don't have data for...

Well... I certainly agree with that. I feel like I'm dealing with a bunch of children and you're definitely right that they do suck you into the trap.

In a forum like this on a topic like this?

Not with all the participants. Not gonna happen. You can have a rational discussion with quite a few folks - there are some really smart and engaging people to interact with in here. The secret is being selective with whom you wish to have such conversations and ignoring the crap posts.

Otherwise your just pissing into the wind....

So far so good no problems at all. Wi-Fi signal seems to be fine I'm not seeing any issues such as yellow screen that others have reported. Played a few games such as modern combat 3 they work a hell of a lot better than on my iPad 1. A few other games and programs are working a lot better. One of the best things I've found so far is the iPhone apps that I have scale up really well.

3G signal really good, we live a poor coverage area on our provider, seems around the same signal strength as the phone.

Charging seems a little slower than my iPad 1. Battery life is good at around 10 hours. Dictation works quite well, Scottish accent asside.

I don't know what the failure rate is on an iPad but if they sold 3 million and still have lots of stock then there must be quite a few dodgy ones out there. Even the best QC in the world would never be able to ensure 100% perfect units.

The only way to do that is to ignore the obvious idiots or trolls. Trust me, I wish this were real:

And allow me to think that given the small number of people, I doubt about the necessity of reporting anything on the matter or then AI should report on every Apple support thread having a few dozen people in it.

How do you know it's a small number of people? In my experience 99% of people who have a problem don't bother to post it on the internet, they just take it back to the shop.

Plus does it matter how many people it is? If I'm sitting at home having wifi problems with my iPad 3 the first thing I would do is check the internet to see if anyone else was having the same problem and see if they could suggest a fix. If that didn't work I would then take it back to the shop. You see how this works? Have you never surfed the tech forums for advice on how to do something, or resolve a problem, or seek advice?

If AI doesn't post this type of story who else will. This site is full of Apple users. You don't think some of us would be interested in this kind of stuff? Of course AI should report every issue. They're hardly the New York Times with more important stuff to print. Specialist news like this is why most people use sites like AI.

Environment your iPad is in at any given moment can be effected by all sorts of radio signals going on around it. Isolated incidents being reported within a week of launch I take little faith in. Widespread reports over several weeks and months, I'd be a little more concerned.

A lot of it is psychology. When I hear someone ragging the iPad because it's thicker and heavier I just scratch my head. Honestly how many people can tell it's the tiniest bit thicker and heavier. If they weren't given the size and weight specifications would they even notice it?

ah, you could go to Apple's website. Seems most of these issues are originating from Apple's website. I don't think AI or any other apple blog has to report on every single issue someone has with one of their devices unless there's evidence that the problem is widespread.

Well, there are 144 replies, however a small number of people keep posting over and over and others are simply posting "I don't have a problem". A rough estimate is that there are 20-30 people with a problem on the Apple forum cited in this story.

Let's say you're right and that's only 1% of the people with a problem. That means that there are actually 2,000 to 3,000 people with a problem - out of more than 3 M iPads sold. I would say that's a small number of people.

And, if history is any indication, the number is even smaller because:

    1. If any of the units are truly defective, Apple will replace them.

    2. Some people simply like to complain. Invariably when there's an issue like this, people will complain, but are happy enough that they'd keep the device, anyway. In fact, since they can return the device if they're not happy, it looks like 100% of the people complaining aren't unhappy enough to return their device.

In my experience managing people I've found that "complainers" are the best resource for rooting out problems. At times they are hard to put up with but overall I prefer them to the boot lickers who suck up every chance they get or the ones who have their head in the clouds and think everything is perfect. Wasn't it Steve Jobs who "complained" that his keys scratched the face of his iPhone?

This could easily be a valid problem.

Just because there are only "dozens" of people posting about it on that thread, doesn't mean that those are the only people having issues with it. Those people are just the vocal minority.

I'm sure some group will test it to see if the claims are true or not.

Even with it's issues, it's still the best $500 tablet.
