Yes you did miss something. The  court wasn't comparing the iPad and the Tab, nor was Apple suing over the Tab looking like an iPad.

Huh? Then why was the judge talking about it?

"(Samsung's tablets) do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design," Birss said in his ruling. "They are not as cool."

The judge found that Samsung's products were distinctive from Apple, as they are thinner and have "unusual details" on the back.

Sounds like the case was about comparing the iPad and the Tab.

It may sound like it, but the Judge was ruling on the Apple registered design patent and not the iPad itself. In fact I've not seen even Apple claim that the asserted design patent was practiced by Apple on the iPad. It may, and perhaps Apple has made that claim. Dunno.

Anyway, in accordance with the ruling Apple is required to post a notice on it's website advising that Samsung did not copy the iPad. The notice is to remain posted for the next 6 months as well as published in assorted UK newspapers.

Is Apple required to render the Judge's opinion, that the Galaxy is not as cool as the iPad?

"No one could possibly confuse the two -- the iPad is just way cooler!"

If you can read, and see the name Samsung printed on the front and back of the tablet, how in the hell would anyone confuse it for an iPad? DVD a iPad If someone really wants to buy an iPad, that someone will buy an iPad. It's as simple as that.

Apple needs to move on and stop wasting millions on legal fees and just go back to innovating and kicking the competition out of the open market by keep coming out with great products.

The whole thermonuclear war thing is Steve Jobs' "personal" war with Google, not Apple's. Steve is gone and it's time for Apple to move on get back to what matters the most.. Coming up with great products.
