Oh, and love how they are now "focusing on the intersection of hardware and software". Um... copying Apple AGAIN Samsung? Ever since the first iPhone introduction from Steve Jobs, he has highlighted that as the core of what Apple is about, and now Samsung just can't wait to open offices in the US to copying Apple again. Pathetic.

I could be greedy and add to the 4000 shares of AAPL I bought at a split-adjusted ~$4.25/share when Steve became interim CEO in the late '90s.....but I'm happy with what I have.

I just wish we still had Steve. Lord knows how much more our lives would be enriched by his vision.

It would be the best mobile OS in the world with no competition.

No need to visit Steve and tell him that. Apple tried to buy Palm, but was outbid by HP. Apparently, Apple was going to run Palm as an independent subsidiary to compete directly in the keyboard segment against RIM.

Sammy: It is a "loss" for innovation since we don't know who to copy now. BB10 looks promising to copy...er...prototype...er...evaluate. Look for our 132 point-by-point comparison and our future release of the Blackjack10.

That's a real big joke since Samsung is the copy machine of Apple products. They don't know anything about innovation except what they learned from Apple and used it on there own products. That's not innovation Samsung, that's STEALING!

Maybe we should ask the people who invented the Graphic User Interface and the mouse what they think of all this.

Think any of them still work for Xerox?

Ironic how some of you get so bent out of shape, jumping to the defense of a company that built a large part of it's fortune on stolen concepts. They took an idea someone else came up with, and didn't pay them a dime for it, or even give them credit after the fact. That doesn't make them any worse than MS, Samsung, etc, but it sure as hell doesn't make them any BETTER, so lay off the hate and simmer down.

Innovation has been reduced to a buzz word while Samsung wait for Apple to give them the "next big thing" to copy. Stolen design, free OS and zero true innovation from a company entrenched in copycat culture. F this guy.

He's absolutely right. If by innovation you mean stealing from innovators.

Um, no way can you get away with that argument. Steve jobs had permission to review and use those concepts, and Xerox was not a direct competitor with Apple. No harm, no foul. Taking a few ideas or features and improving or applying them differently is actually innovation. What Samsung does is theft, masked by different sized screens and simple tweaks. It's shameful and contemptible.

So if Samsung innovated I'd get a choice between a Blackberry circa 2007 or a Samsung BlackJack 5 with windows CE. Or maybe android 1.x

Competition is good and imagine how crappy mobile phones would be if Apple never showed up.

This is damage control.  it's one thing to steal from others and get caught, but to suggest that this is going to limit "innovation" is just DUMB.  Samsung, please don't insult my intelligence.  Get a life.  Stick to making components and get out of the Android smartphone and tablet business.

If it fails to achieve that, then yes, a loss.

Nothing personal, but Samsung is practicing conflict of interest by being a component supplier to smartphone and tablet companies while also making competing products. They know what the competitors are buying, they have control over pricing and availability for their component customers and they can at any time without anyone knowing prevent their competitors from getting product and being competitive from a cost perspective.  These guys have already been nailed more than once for price fixing, which is illegal and it doesn't seem that have learned how to not price fix.  It seems as though they might still practice that illegal business practice and only do something when/if they get caught.  Once is wrong, but TWICE?

Samsung should stick to being a component supplier and get out of competing with those customers. It's a VERY unethical business practice they've been getting away with for YEARS.

It's similar to what Microsoft is starting to do by coming out with their own product designs to compete with their OS OEM customers.

It's just damage control because All Things Digital is stupid enough to let them get interviewed and let them get away with this pitch.

I would be all over him about conflict of interest, pricing fixing and how they can be a component supplier to smartphone and tablet makers and also compete with them and think that is ETHICAL.

I just won't buy ANYTHING with the Samsung label on the outside.  They can make components all they want, but if the product has Samsung's name on it, I will simply not buy it.  They aren't the only game in town for their other products like household appliances and TVs. They aren't the best either.  Plus they resort to desperate sales tactics by handing out spiff checks to sales reps, misleading advertising campaigns, and just simple backstabbing.

I don't know about you, but everytime I go to a website and they have a link to the Apple App Store to download an app, I am finding less and less available for both iOS and Android.  I still have yet to see a site that also lists Windows RT.  Oh well.

Yeah, the buzz word INNOVATION is getting out of hand and REAL old.  Innovation is only good if the invention is USEFUL.

    "Adoption by Apple

The first successful commercial GUI product was the Apple Macintosh, which was heavily inspired by PARC's work; Xerox was allowed to buy pre-IPO stock from Apple, in exchange for engineer visits [6]

Much later, in the midst of the 1988–1994 Apple v. Microsoft lawsuit, in which Apple accused Microsoft of violating its copyright by appropriating the use of the "look and feel" of the Apple Macintosh GUI, Xerox also sued Apple on similar grounds. The Xerox lawsuit was dismissed because the presiding judge dismissed most of Xerox's complaints as being inappropriate for a variety of legal reasons.[7]"

So, Mr David Eun, if you describe the "legal struggle as "a loss" for innovation in the fast-moving tech industry." why are Samsung suing LG in Korea over OLED patents?

Samsung should just let LG "innovate" with their TV's.

Go smoke your dope somewhere else.  Clowns like you are simply too lazy to read a book and research what went on regarding this tired subject.  Instead, you simply play on ignorance in the hope someone out there will actually believe the nonsense you are trying to preach.

Apple had Xerox's FULL blessings and agreements.  Too lazy to even google it?
