HEY, how about that, huh? See what happens when you pay attention to what people say? You start to notice… what they actually said.
And yet… something tells me they won't be okay with people subverting their voice plans… That's really all I'm saying.
This is exactly what you said "Instantly banned on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, Virgin, O2, Orange, and everyone else."
I pointed out that Sprint and Verizon and T-Mobile could not care less about Facetime and have never blocked it. I further explained that AT&T only blocked in for some users, (a small minority in fact) and they are no longer blocking that small group or will stop blocking them soon.
From time to time when you are proven wrong you will reluctantly admit it, I suggest you do that now. You really are making yourself look quite foolish by trying to assert that it will be blocked instantly when in fact it has never been block by the vast majority of subscribers on the big 4 carriers in the U.S.
Facetime was never blocked over 3G on Sprint nor Verizon if memory serves, nor is it blocked on T-Mobile. It was also only blocked for certain plans on AT&T and they are removing those restrictions which means it won't be blocked on any major carrier.Since you are not a subscriber of any of the big 4 carriers nor do you have an iPhone you possibly weren't aware of this fact. Since they didn't block video FaceTime there is little reason to believe they would block audio facetime either.
I won't be break up your post, as it is the troll method for losing context and deceiving latter readers.
Perhaps some carriers (who may or may not be the dominant US iPhone carrier) has a capacity plan that involves moving data to LTE while preserving/not impacting the majority of the customers. OR we can believe the Black Helicopters made them do it. As high end users gravitate to newer handset it frees capacity by evacuating spectrum ranges for the benefit of the have-nots and don't-really-cares about data like 9 out of 10 of your neighbors.
Here's a paradigm constant- Early adopters pay. Bitches pay but whine about it.
This is exactly what you said "Instantly banned on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, Virgin, O2, Orange, and everyone else."
Because from context, you couldn't determine I was talking about a future event?
I pointed out that Sprint and Verizon and T-Mobile could not care less about Facetime and have never blocked it.
FaceTime… video.
I further explained that AT&T only blocked in for some users, (a small minority in fact)…
Nah. Even I can remember this, which is really really pathetic. Just give me a "Mea culpa" here and I'll call it even. AT&T blocked it network-wide.
You really are making yourself look quite foolish by trying to assert that it will be blocked instantly…
Yep, I'm really making myself look foolish by… making a guess as to a future event you can't possibly know while using history to back up my assertion.
Well, you can't prove me wrong about the future until we're told by the telecoms. And you can't prove me wrong about the past because I'm not.
So maybe cut it out?
I don't have to prove you wrong about the past as others have shamed you. Props to Gw!
The topic of the AI article had NOTHING to do with video so it had nothing to do with the past of any of the many carriers you called out. In the past 2G & 3G had no comparison between US providers. Today 4G is still a fluid thing yet the user assumes equivalence. In the past there was not one network for voice/data and another for only data.
You seem to believe that each carrier operates one network. The one I work for operates five in just the wireless realm to support the customer base.
I expect better from AI. I'll cut it out when you do. If they ban or suspend me for acting less offensive than you, perhaps it'll be (finally) recognized and the people who bring revenue to this place will move on.
Past time to swallow some of what you have been shoveling.
Because from context, you couldn't determine I was talking about a future event?

You might have been talking about a future event for facetime audio only since it doesn't exist yet except in beta in your very first post but you used this quote to back up your prediction. Clearly you thought that Sprint, Verizon, and other carriers had been blocking Facetime like AT&T had in the past and used that to strengthen your case as to why it will also be blocked once it is also available with an audio only option.
AT&T DOES NOT EQUAL THE WORLD! In fact they aren't even the largest carrier in the U.S.
Repeat after me, Facetime was never blocked over 3G for Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, or even Virgin Mobile here in the U.S.. Clear enough now?
Apple, please bring back multiple video access from iChat to FaceTime. Why in the world did you cripple the service. And also bring back the ability to show desktop and keynotes with the multiple video feeds.
What a terrible name. FaceTime Audio, i.e. without the face?
Should've called it TalkTime. Or TongueTime
Why do people get hung up on names? Don't forget that you can actually call it what ever you want.
Not really liking the whole white theme with IOS7. I hid all of the obnoxious (most all of them are obnoxious) icons in a folder, but the white is just terrible.
There's no setting I can find that will get rid of the stock white settings. Even a slight grey would be better.
I'm certainly not going to put iOS7 with this color scheme on my iPad. That's just too much white on too much real-estate.
Apple does understand that we're alive right? I like to see color. I like to see trees because they're green. The ocean because it's blue. I certainly don't want to look at a lot of white (absence of color) screens. I want to see some nice vibrant colors while I'm here and alive.
There's just sooo much white! Now, when I look a my phone I think hospital, text books, blinding sun, absence of character. It's pure, and clean. I get that. But when I pick up and look at something I need to use (lets face it land lines are dead), I want to see life.
The horrible icons with the unwieldy colors are not a substitute. They are so bad I hid them in a folder right quick.
This will be the lamenting year of missing colors for me I suppose. If they do that to the iPad I'm going to riot!
Why do people get hung up on names? Don't forget that you can actually call it what ever you want.
I suppose I can, but if I ask a friend to Gazoomple me then they might have difficulty understanding what I mean when it's labelled as FaceTime Audio in Mac and iOS.
So no, I can't practically call it anything I want. Ridiculous claim.
So the thing that makes iMessage so great is that it is entirely invisible and requires no user input. If both ends have an iDevice and a data connection, iMessage just happens.
That's how this should work as well. An option to turn this off is required, of course, but under normal circumstances it should "just happen".
I suppose I can, but if I ask a friend to Gazoomple me then they might have difficulty understanding what I mean when it's labelled as FaceTime Audio in Mac and iOS.
So no, I can't practically call it anything I want. Ridiculous claim.
So surely you couldn't just say "call me on the ipad later", or what's become popular in the N.E. as "I'll slap ya later".
Does your circle of friends have to look up Wikipedia before they tell you what they're doing? Do they really say "I'm going to face time audio you later tonight before I go to bed at around 11:00ish?"
I don't have to prove you wrong about the past as others have shamed you. Props to Gw!
Uh, how? He was wrong. Please just shut up now. You don't have an argument and are refusing to pay attention to where you're wrong.
The topic of the AI article had NOTHING to do with video so it had nothing to do with the past of any of the many carriers you called out.
Funny; you'd think you'd be smart enough to notice when a parallel is drawn.
In the past 2G & 3G had no comparison between US providers.
And yet I never spoke of 2G.

No, please, keep lying. My link proves you wrong; keep at it. Don't really know what it accomplishes for you, but…
Clearly you thought that Sprint, Verizon, and other carriers had been blocking FaceTime like AT&T had in the past…
No, I didn't. There's no 'clearly'.
Repeat after me, Facetime was never blocked over 3G for Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, or even Virgin Mobile here in the U.S.. Clear enough now?
And this somehow stops them from doing it with audio in the future?

Could've sworn they haven't taken that away. It's still there for AIM contacts, right?
Have no idea what the point you're trying to make is.
FaceTime Audio is a silly name, that's it.
With a bit more foresight and sensibility Apple could have had a family of co-branded messaging apps.
TextTime - for messaging, instead of iMessage/Messages
TalkTime - for voicecalls, instead of FaceTime Audio
FaceTime - for video calls
Alternatively, taking the iMesasage lead
iMessage
iTalk
iFace (hmm, maybe not)
That's building positive brand recognition. It's good business sense, and makes sense and helps users out with understanding stuff. FaceTime Audio is rubbish, there's no f-ing face involved!
Comments
Until then, the only people who can try it are Apple employees. Not surprisingly, they're not talking.
So it's not that the tech bloggers haven't thought of it. It's just that they can't.

Or not since there are laws in the US that bar cell companies from blocking such things. That's why Skype was always on cell data.
