LOL. Yes, but you know some of that is just the nature of low profile tires. They ride rougher than higher profile tires. I always laugh when I see these show-offs with their trucks and 4x4s and low profile twenty inchers, oh, and, an original spare. image

Not sure exactly what "fell on deaf ears" means in this case but if it means he refuses to listen or ignores complaints then I guess you're the nice person for continuing to buy from that salesman. Clearly the run-flats aren't big enough deal to keep you from buying BMW. :) Lucky you. I think.

I was wondering about that myself. Is it to say that you're a dick (or have to be one) if you drive a BMW or that BMWs make it easier to pick up men?

Great marketing potential. With an M5, even ugly fat chicks get action.

Things like reliability and interior are less important. For the most popular 3 series, the NAV/UI is an expensive option that many forego.

Yeah those tires on that model are really soft rubber and wear out super fast. I suppose the driving habits of most M3 owners probably doesn't help either. image

I drive a 2012 BMW and its iDrive feature is an embarrassment. Counterintuitive, overly complicated, and just plain clunky, iDrive is by far the worst feature on an otherwise great car. A driver's chance of using voice control to successfully do anything %u2013 make a phone call, find a location, even enter a city is about zero. You need to be in the proper mode, use the proper wording, and hope for the best:

    "Call Roberta."

    "Find Indiana?"

While I can plug in my iPhone and play music and podcasts, the car also features a hard drive (yes, you read right, not solid state) to store songs but get this, it won't allow me download my music library from the iPhone. Instead, I must load songs from my Mac onto a flash drive and then go through a convoluted process to get them on the car's drive. Delete or add a song? Errrr, not likely.

I complain here not to boo-hoo, but because according to Apple and this article, BMW will not be taking advantage of existing first-rate technology in the future, relying instead on a new "proprietary" system. Man, they just don't get it.

Agreed,  I just sent Feedback to customerrelations@bmwusa.com.   I'd encourage any BMW owner who wants iOS inegration to do the same..

    "Dear BMW,

As current owners of 2013 and 2011 BMW's, I was very disheartened to learn that BMW has no future plans to join the 14 other on-board auto-makers in incorporating the newly announced Apple 'iOS in the Car" and instead plans to stick with it's own technology.

My partner and I both absolutely love of our recent BMW purchases, however the iDrive and ConnectedDrive interfaces are severely lacking and pale in comparison to Apple's proposed iOS integration solutions.

For me personally, being connected to my Apple devices is the single most important interior feature for any vehicle I own, and failure to incorporate Apple's brand new solutions would WITHOUT A DOUBT impact my decision to choose a BMW vehicle again when my lease expires.

    Please reconsider this decision.

    Best Regards,

That's why I keep a light, high performance, sticky set for fun days and a medium cost all purpose reliable set (wheels and tires) for road trips. Best of both worlds :-)

Kind of an exaggeration, no? I think they can get it fixed right away at the dealer plus I have road hazard tire insurance.

Almost positive BMW dealer will not fix a runflat. They will replace it.  BMW Service centers close from 6PM saturday until AM Monday, so you're out of luck if you get a puncture during those hours. Your local tire rack will likely have to order in the tire.

I'm in the same boat with non runflats. On long journeys I throw one of my spare wheels from my other set in trunk rather than spend hours, possibly days, waiting for roadside and dealer to handle.

Exactly!  This is a quote from BMWs own website. No mention of iDrive or UI. Not saying that they couldn't do better but iDrive/UI was never a consideration for me in buying a BMW.

"This year, the BMW 3 Series has made Car and Driver's acclaimed 10Best List for an unprecedented 20th year in a row. Known around the world for its sporty looks, superior handling and powerful engines, the 3 Series has been a perennial favorite amongst driving enthusiasts and Car and Driver writers alike. And it's no surprise, especially when,"the chassis balance is exquisite, with handling that encourages risky behavior but a ride that you wouldn't feel bad subjecting your grandmother to." Not only has the 3 Series been on every 10Best List since 1992, but it's "a feat unmatched by any other vehicle on the market." And that's an incredible accomplishment for our most popular BMW."

I read a review of the Keynote and the reviewer claimed Toyota was included. Likely the reviewer was wrong. Unfortunate for us Toyota buyers since their auto software really sucks in ways too numerous to list.

Toyota should get on board with Apple.

You're exactly right...and thats the problem.  The current best just isn't good enough, or at least as good as it could be.

Exactly.  Roadside assistance will change your tire if you have a spare, or they will tow you if you have no spare.  Only two options. They do not replace your flat with a new tire.

Once they realize iOS in the car makes their competitors look good, they'll find a way to change their tune.
