I don't believe that for a single second...I own a 2012 & 2013 Nexus 7.....the 2013 has occasional lag, the 2012 slows down horribly, randomly reboots & in general a pretty bad experience, the 2013 is a massive improvement, its actually a pretty good device.

I've had no issues with my 2012 version Nexus 7 either. I use it for several hours a week and I can't remember the last random reboot nor do I notice any "slowdown". I don't play games on it tho, so perhaps that's the difference.

It could be the difference, the Play store apps aren't checked to the same level as the app store (doubt that the play store is checked at all). it could be an app/game/service running, thats making it so unstable?, the 2013 has alot more on it tho, i got the 32gb one. its really stable so far, ill be selling my 2012 one, after kitkat comes out, I'm wanting to check if that helps it.

My S4 runs like poo, my nexus 5 is going great, i go between my iPhone 5 & nexus 5, the overall experience is so so different between every android device, iOS is so consistent, i love consistency.

Even tho im an "Apple guy" i love all tech.

Just stick with Nexus products and you will have the Constancy you are looking for. Though I have never had a Nexus 4 or 5, I have owned a Nexus 7 and now a Nexus 7 v2 in which my daughter stole off of me. She had a iPad Mini but actually prefers the Nexus 7v2 because of the screen, speed and it has 4G where her Mini didn't, she plays mostly games, Facebook and Twitter and I think for that the Nexus 7v2 is the perfect cheap tablet. Though she has started to use it as a mini laptop with Kingsoft Office, she found a cheap bluetooth keyboard and is now a extremely fast typist with it to my surprise. Those who do go the Android route, the Nexus series of products is really your only trued choice, the rest is just a wast of time. with all of their silly slow skins.

the 16GB and 32GB sold a lot more then the 8GB. 8Gb is just stupid now..

8B for a tablet in the first place is stupid back a year ago.  I have 8G on my iPhone, which i purposely don't run as many apps and that's barely enough for a basic use smartphone.

The only sales figures they have for the 2012 model was 7 Million units sold up until July 2013.  I don't know how many more they sold until the 2013 model was released.

The 2013 model, there aren't any official sales figures listed that I can see, but they stopped selling the 8GB model, they only sell 16GB and 32GB models.

I was going off  oflocal shops here, the 8GB wasn't even offered. You had to special order it from Google.

What's funny is the price of the 8GB model was what the media was pushing, even though it wasn't the better selling product.   Freaking media.  I think the media, for the most part, is a bunch of idiots. Most of them are stupid, I'm wondering how 90% of the articles even make it to print these days.  What's worse is when you have journalists with little or no background in IT writing articles on IT companies and how they twist reality and that people buy into what they say because it's in print.

I totally agree, It took me spending lots of money on crappy devices to realise this.

Alright zozman my mistake it takes 32 seconds but no lag and it responds instantly everytime looks like others agree with me.I'd prove it if I could I created this account just to post my 32 sec boot time and flash speed.not one pair of devices are completely the same there will be some variance whether its a tone of color or read and write speed.I don't own a 2013 due to major graphic loss on such games like real racing 3 and nova 3 although color is better but I saw a major downgrade when playing it at my friends house its a give n take of features I'd rather stick to nvidea there play supported

People get so excited about cheap crap in general, who in their right mind would buy a 8GB tablet of any make or model is beyond me. These journalists should really be ashamed of themselves for pushing these products upon people. The thing is though these company's pay for advertising on their tech blogs. Like I don't think Engadget or Gizmodo is always unbiased when writing about certain products.

Most of these journalists are just trying to create excitement because they don't know what else to write about.

I think Google/Android products, in general, have been overhyped almost like Facebook's IPO.

All of the journalists are biased, it's almost impossible to write about computer technology and be unbiased.   If these journalists wrote articles that were unbiased, their articles would be boring.

But overhyping a cheap product isn't right.  But I wonder how many of those journalists got a free Nexus 7 with 8GB of RAM?  I know Apple doesn't hand them out, they loan their products.  But Google seems to have expensive giveaways like the Chromebook.   Are they still pushing that POS?  I don't hear much about Chromebooks anymore, did Google finally put a nail to the Chromebook?

No the Chromebooks are defiantly still around and are actually gaining in sales, they are the new Netbooks apparently. Sony and Toshiba will join in all the fun and will start producing them as well by the end of this year early next along side already Chromebook manufactures Samsung, Acer and HP. The Chromebooks occupy(this link is old, the Samsung Chromebook now holds the number one spot) 3 out of the top 5 notebooks sold on Amazon, The new HP Chrome 11, Samsung's Arm 11.6 and the Acer C720. So yes, not only is Google pushing these POS but people are buying them in droves and are one of the only platforms that is increasing in marketshare, very quickly if I might add. I guess people don't mind using a OS that is just a browser.

Gaining sales?  Well, when you have no sales, selling one unit is gaining sales, but Chromebooks are just for basic, basic needs and that's about all you can do with them.  They are actually just the latest GOOGLE con job to get people to use their services so they can maybe earn some money and keep them using Google Search for ad clicks/ad revenues.  They are certainly not pushing the limit and technology on any level and they are kind of a waste of money that will most likely end up not being used and disappointing the user.

What market share do they occupy? The computers in the $100 to $300 range.  Whoopty Doo.  There's no money in that market and ya wonder why HP is selling lots of product but not making any money.  HP should become a non-profit organization along with all of the other PC mfg.    Who cares what sells through Amazon.  Not all products are bought through Amazon.  I didn't buy my iMac through Amazon, I bought it directly from Apple as a custom config.

Oh, I just cruised Amazon's best selling laptops list and did a little more digging, some of these so-called top sellers list the Chromebooks as use and refurbished.  Maybe people are buying them, returning them, and then trying to resell them again.  Amazon is more for where used products are sold, unless it's Kindle.   I don't think HP and Apple, etc. sell most of their products through Amazon.

Here's a RECENT article explaining how well your beloved Chromebooks are selling, or how I should say AREN'T selling.

    http://www.zdnet.com/latest-idc-figures-show-chromebooks-continue-to-struggle-7000023000/

Oh, I forgot to add.  Relic has a friend that works for Google and Relic got a FREE Chromebook from her friend that they give away to people.  So, Relic, you sound just like these crooked journalists that hype something because they got free product from the mfg they are hyping.  Shame, shame, shame on you.

Actually three friends but I really do like ChromeOS. I have a Chromebook, yes and I bought a ChromeBox for my bedrooms TV. They make perfect dumb terminals and media players and of course not to mention surfing machines. Since you have never used one it's very unfair that you've called foul on me. Shame on me, no sir shame on you for commenting on me using a product that you know absolutely nothing about. Reading reviews vs. actually using a device is a very big difference. Actually what do you know about half of the products that you complain about and it's a lot by the way. Your assuming way to much but actually know nothing about the products you shun, curiously have you owned any of the products that you complain about on this board, I doubt it I know you had a Android phone but it was such a low end model that I fully understand why you hate Android, a high end Android model, no, I don't think you used one. So why do you complain so much, really I would like to know. These are just gadgets, mean nothing to you, why the emotional feelings. Don't worry though in a months time you will never have to hear from me again.

The thing about Chromebooks is they cut costs to the bone to get to the cheap price point hence a recall of overheating chargers on some current models.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. Haven't seen any problems with them yet but I'll be sure to tell my kids to unplug them at night. Would you happen to know the make of the machines that have this problem. I own a Samsung ChromeBook ARM and Samsung, i5, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD ChromeBox. Both of witch seem to be fine but I still don't want to take any chances.
