I'm sure you won't be forced to buy it. I doubt Apple would be stupid enough to replace the white/sliver model with champagne. It will be another color option (like the rumored gunmetal color).
Is this really possible? I absolutely love this more than the black/white!
The silver Apple logo on the champagne iPhone looks off. It won't ship with a silver Apple logo. It makes no sense.
Why wouldn't that make sense, especially if it has a white front panel? Would you expect a black logo, or a white one? I think the high end fives are getting the silver logos to complement the chamfered edges. Makes sense to me.
bi-color (gold-silver) is an old fashion style, so silver&gold work together. Similarly matte and glossy gold would work really well. White and gold usually is only found on X-mas ornaments and "worship style" music equipment, unless one's talking about a white fashion item with gold accents.
It looks rather random to have these white glass bars top and bottom. A matte gold body with a glossy gold Apple logo and glossy gold glass tops and bottoms would seem to be more congruent, along e.g. with a navy-blue/black front glass face.
A mixture of white (glass), gold (back), silver (edges/logo), black (screen/logo), seems a bit too mixed up for my taste, and makes the device look busy and cluttered.
But we'll see what the actual device looks like, if there's a gold phone at all. It's very cheap to make a few anodized prototypes to put the rumor mills on the wrong track and/or to test consumer reactions.
a giant fake green-blue surfer wave as the backdrop, so "classy" has apparently already left the building.
There's nothing fake about that blue-green wave. Or let me correct this statement: it could be fake, but it could just as well be real. Been in Hawaii and Costa Rica, so I know what Pacific Surf can look like, and it can look just like that in color. No need to fake anything, provided one's at the right place at the right time to take the picture.

"Mavericks" pretty much makes everyone outside of the USA want to barf though. They might as well put eagles and waving American flags on the box.
There's a difference between "Californian landmarks" and "US Patriotism". It's the same difference between showing a picture of the Mont Blanc mountain range and showing a picture of Géneral De Gaulle...
Showing surf, pictures from the redwood forests, Yosemite National Park, or even the Golden Gate bridge have more to do with the spirit of California as a living space than with nationalism of any sort.
Spoilt brat, go work in a factory for living for a while and wait until we comment on your hands.
Ever heard if the phrase "Don't bite the hands that feed you!"?
Why do you think you can afford a cheap iPhone? Because there are "dirty, ugly hands" working and assembling them for you. Show some humility and gratitude you bastard!
Dude, chill!
I would have preferred a woman's hand with nail polish....
There's a difference between a factory worker being complicit in leaking a picture to satisfy the global curiosity and rumor mill while padding the meager income a bit, and a polished press photo released by a PR firm. It's a tad unrealistic to see a manicured hand model showing up at a Foxconn plant to shoot leaked iPhone images...
Ah I see you're back to your anti-American drivel agin.
Strictly speaking, that comment was actually anti-Apple rather than anti-American. Suggesting that it is as absurd as the Steven Colbert aesthetic is a criticism of Apple's choices, not the USA.
If one wanted to take an anti-American stance there are much better targets than computer operating systems!
I may be representing a minority here, but I liked this design a lot. Actually the iPhone 1 and 4/4S are still my favourites. The 3G/3GS were the ones I liked least (by far), but even those were not "ugly", just too much plastic. (The 5 looks great, but that screen size does nothing for me.)
1st Gen was nice, except for that black antenna bar at the bottom. I wish they could have integrated that into the frame, front glass and/or a plastic Apple logo and kept the rest of the back all aluminum.
4/4s are the best. Don't like the aluminum frame in the 5: aluminum is too soft. I managed to ding the stainless steel frame of the 4 by dropping it by accident, don't want to know how the aluminum would have fared greeting the pavement.
Also, the aspect ratio of the 4/4s is more harmonious, but it makes sense to have the 5 form factor, simply because there's too much movie, video and TV content in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and on a screen the size of the 4/4s/5 you don't want to lose precious screen space to letterboxing.
So the 5 is a good compromize in maximizing the screen size while retaining one-hand operation and adapting to common media formats.
It's always a give and take when it comes to engineering.
Too bad still 4" but I'd rather compromise on screen size than move away from iOS.
I agree. I really hope they make a 3.5" with the latest internals; the 4" screen doesn't do much for me, except for the occasional game, but that's not something I do daily.
To be accurate; it's actually the size of th phone, not the display, that I'd like to see smaller. Some jeans the phone gets stuck a little because it drops sideways, which wasn't a problem with the 2nd & rd Gen.
Looks VERY MUCH like a poorly executed color correction. Note the red 'reflecting' in the rim and logo, and the greenish tinge in the shadow of the slate iPhone on the 'gold' one (around the 57" mark)

I'd take a plastic one over aluminum if it had the same specs.
Someone needs to go to tip top nails & get some cuticle work done.

I sure hope this is real, because it's frigging gorgeous. It's what the black iPhone 5 should have been.

Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis? There's all kinds of pictures of the front.
This one, to me, looks like a convex sapphire button with a sensor in the middle. I could be wrong, though.

Remember all that was out were Crackberrys and Windows Phones?
In comparison the iPhone looked like nothing else, and in my opinion STILL LOOKS GREAT.
The ugliest iPhone?
The White iPhone 3GS.
The White plastic with the black glass front looked so tacky to me.
I'm hoping the 5C looks better though.

The logo is just a mirrored surface. It will appear light or dark depending on how the photo is composed.
