Wow it's nice to know what a friendly response you give to someones comment on here.  Seriously what is your problem?

Apple will just have to phase in update installations, probably geographically to avoid people complaining 'my neighbor's update is available, where's mine?'

I really have trouble comprehending the analogy between an exogenous event like a once-in-a-hundred-years flood, and a planned event that happens every few years.
It rains every year in Colorado during this season, sometimes more than expected. Sorry, it may have been a poor analogy but so is your comprehension. Forgive me, I am somewhat emotionally involved in the Colorado flood situation as the wife's family lives in Boulder and their house was destroyed.

My sincere sympathies. It all sounds horrendous. There's been no follow up in the news about the missing hundreds?

That makes it all the harder for me to understand why you'd want to trivialize it.

I upgraded my phone and iPad with just a few hiccups. I'm preparing for a colonoscopy tomorrow, so getting iOS 7 was a nice change.

What Android upgrades? In more seriousness, both google play updates and OS updates for nexus devices are rolled out progressively instead of all at once.

Worked fine for me, but I think a little "peace, love and understanding" is in order, considering the traffic they're trying to handle. I'd like to see someone else do a better job of serving 1+ gig of data 500m times over.

When android revs, a few hundred people go download it... Over a period of weeks.

While I agree with you abou having some sense (I personally now always wait for the ".1" release of anything anyway), it's ridiculous that Apple can't build out or lease enough infrastructure to support users.

And if it is going to be a problem and activations and upgrades use the same servers and/or network, then they should have prioritized activations and postponed the ability to upgrade for a week or so. No one is going to die because they have to wait a week for iOS7.

Have you ever managed a server farm?  Or seen one?  Can you visualize 100 million, or even 1 million?  Do you remember sitting in 30 minute lines just to submit your tax return?

Dude, he was pretty darned clear in the point he was making. All the planning in the world can still be caught flatfooted by greater than expected demand. Is that so hard to understand? Him using that flood in no way trivializes the flood unless you see him somehow saying that the inability to activate his phone or download the update is as bad as losing ones home, or loved ones. And he is certainly not doing that here from what I can see...

I got my iPhone updated to IOS7 OK, and I got one of my 2 'puters loaded with the newest iTunes. Unfortunately, on both 'puters, I cannot access my playlists in iCloud. The playlists are fine on the iPhone. Also, Radio works fine on the updated 'puter.

They can't build a bigger internet. Entire ISPs went down under the weight of the downloads. Apple served them just fine.
