The complaint of having a 1GB file automatically downloaded and stored when there's no intention to install it is actually sort of valid though. Something tells me there's probably an easy way to get rid of it though. Tim Cook should settle for 75$.
No it isn't. It's called "Terms and Conditions of iOS 6"
The usual fanboi misleading garbage... My little brother 2 years old Samsung Galaxy Nexus is receiving every OS updates on day 1 and is up-to-date, so please put your bold lie and generalization where it belongs, to the trash.
Note that "Up to date" means that there are no additional updates to be performed. That's the problem with the poorly designed Android system. Most of these phones are up to date when they come from the factory and they remain that way for the the rest of their drawer ridden lives.
BTW, you can't pull out one Android phone as an example for all Android phones. The Nexus is clearly an exception to the typical cycle, just as the very few high-end devices that actually sell in volume, like the Samsung Galaxy S3, but in no way does that detract from his general point.
I think the way to do it is Reset All Contents and Settings, which is like restoring the device and then restore your backed up content. I wouldn't imagine the upgrade file would still be there. From then on switch off auto update.
Some people have this... "Install Now"... seems like already downloaded and taking up storage which Apple charges a lot for.
An incremental update like that wouldn't take up all that much space and why ever would people who'd already made the leap to 7 NOT choose to install the maintenance tweaks?

I think lawyers are gathering iphone users for a class action suit on this issue already. Everyone in the class action gets $25 itune coupon and the lawyers keep the other $25 per pop if they win.

Suit gets dismissed before it’s finished being drafted, everyone shuts up.
The Apple Board should seriously be questioning TIM COOK. What a disservice to such a great brand and to loyal customer base. This just proves no one can run Apple like Steve. Apple should assist it customers with a role back. My iPAD has lost it richness and quality in the interface and is suffering greatly. Tim the best thing you could do for the Apple brand right now is to admit Apple Inc. has made a serious mistake and assist all those who trusted Apple in getting their appliances back on track.
You know something has gone way wrong when your children are complaining about the interface, loss of storage and awkwardness of iOS7. I became their worst enemy. How do you tell your kids you can't put it back the way it was? Apple should provide roll back options--it's just part of IT.
Sad, but this lack of quality assurance undermines the companies most valued goodwill, TRUST.

Your comment is BS. iOS 7 is a successful overhaul to the interface with many new features. iOS 6 is dated in comparison in terms of both look and usability.
Yes, that's a little too "Microsoft, we know best" for me. How'd that happen? I was asked permission before any download of an OS took place. Even in iTunes I just got a notification that an iOS update was available and I had to click to start the process.... not due to any settings I consciously have chosen recently anyway...

Bye bye.
Who cares. You're not entitled to pick your OS.

Except that phone isn't running iOS 7.
