Samesung fail to get full marks in any category and then get 5* in the overall satisfaction? How does that work?

That's what the price conscious people that don't have much money think.   They put price as Number 1 priority.   They typically won't use the device that much, so they would barely qualify as a user.

They are usually too short sighted in not looking at the impact of resale value, since under the same circumstances, you'll retain higher resale value with a similar Apple product, which will offset the initial cost of the product and that will make up a large portion of the difference so the actual difference in COST is about the same.

Some people are just not as knowledgeable about how to make buying decisions.

What is it J.D. Power is using, the new math? Samsung receives no more than 4 stars in any category but winds up with a 5-star overall satisfaction rating?

Good thing this rating was published before the iPad Air came out. JDP must have received a bundle of $$ from Samsung to publish the flawed analysis at this time.

JD Power:  If you buy our multi-year research product, we will "find" a study that rank your tablet over iPad.

    Samsung:  well...

JD Power: That 's what Steve Jobs would have done.

    Samsung:  sold!

Is it that Poor people have poor choices and that is why they remain poor and whine? :err:

Also can we take survey about who needs iPad and why you love Apple now? I am willing to pay for it! (To qualify in this survey- You need to be Apple Hater) <img class=" src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />

Samsung might say, "JD does what I pay it to" in this case because their stuff is, well, stuff.

I scored each manufacturer, weighting the number of "stars" by the percentages shown.  For instance 5 Performance "Stars" generates a score of 110, and so on.

Apple got a score of 452.  Samsung got a score of 348.

JDP doesn't explain how Apple and Samsung both generated a 5 "Star" Overall Satisfaction rating from the scores above.  Scoring the data provided any other way means that other factors were considered and were not listed (amount paid by Samsung for top position?).

I am genuinely surprised by this. And it alone does not change my views on Samsung.

Did they test the iPad Air? No? Meaningless.

Wow, I just lost all respect for their awards. What if they did that with cars?

So customers are more satisfied with an 199 $ SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB 3 7" than an 399 $ iPad mini with retina display ?
    Only because of price ?
    REALLY ???

That product has not been released yet.

Wow, I just lost all respect for their awards. What if they judged cars this way?

This seems like an error to me. Expect it to be corrected soon.

Count up the white dots vs. the orange and see who won.

My assumption is that either the overall rank is not mathematically derived from the survey categories, or cost is a disproportionately high component of the overall score. Did J.D. Power explain how they calculated the overall ranking? Because its not explained in the AppleInsider article (which is not surprising)
