No, it has nothing to do with implementation of a touch screen for laptop/desktop. It's just the ergonomics of positioning of the screen and arm movement.
And so… that implementation… does not work. So Apple will do something different than the crap being foisted by Microsoft right now.
Dell has their AIO that adjusts to almost flat, but just moving your hand to reach all four corners on a 27inch screen gets painful after a while.
Each of my arms can cover 2/3 of a 27” screen. Drop that down to about half for the average person and we have ourselves a product.
There is a certain size area for a touch screen mobile device that can be used until it starts to become painful to use over longer periods of time. I don't know what that size is, but it's not going to be much more than maybe 13 or 15 inch is my guess, but then again I would have to have various sized screens to see what feels too big and what doesn't.
I’m gonna guess that, as with phone sizes, Apple has this all worked out and knows what sizes work. Just spitballing.
I don't see a lot of people lined up to use that Surface table at the Microsoft stores for hours on end. Do you?
Well, they don’t sell it anymore. It was an utter failure. " src="http://forums-files.appleinsider.com/images/smilies//lol.gif" />
The problem with the Surface (besides its software and hardware) is its purpose. It wasn’t designed to be anything to anyone. It wasn’t even designed to be everything to everyone. It was just a table.

Uh, just hide the update, and it will disable all future notifications. And there's nothing "stupid" about it informing you of updates.
Am I missing something? I have my Mac App Store open and I'm on the updates page. There is no option to hide the update.
I didn't informing me of updates is stupid, I said the Mac App Store is informing me of an update that when I click on it says my hardware is not up to snuff. It also doesn't give me the option to hide that update. That's the stupid part.

It SHOULD be called OS XI or 11.0.
They aren't using the decimal system. They are using the format "version number" followed by a "period" followed by the "point release number". There is no law that says they can't do this. Same reason I could call the current date 2013.11.1
Well I personally use a 2012 rMBP but I have an old 2008 iMac where the message is given. The new iMovie uses openCL for rendering and my old iMac doesn't have that. I'm fine using the old version but I want to have the ability to hide the update so it doesn't appear I have a pending update to download.

Your ability to selectively quote posts is mind boggling. 10.1 and 10.10 are equivalent in the decimal system. I don't think you understand that. Of course software numbering is not a decimal system but you seem to think that 10.1 != 10.10 in maths. Really? hahahaha

I really like the new OS naming theme, because it brings a little humanity back into the Mac, which is what I think the Mac was always about. Whilst microsoft seem to have made their OS suit devices, Apple have made the OS to suit humans. Nice move. As for a name? How about "beach babes" ;-) just kidding. Hollywood would not be a bad move if the focus goes back to multimedia and video production. Only thing I ask, bring back peer to peer photo sharing for iPhoto... removing this was a BAD BAD thing Apple!
Can't come sooner. Mavericks has crashed on me (waking from sleep) at least 10 times. I'm talking full kernel panic, or completely unresponsive machine. Combine that with the instant sleep when I accidentally tap the power button (which on the RMBP is extremely easy to do, and *doesn't* require more than a standard keystroke to activate) that's frequently interrupting my workflow, Mavericks is a disaster. I've found other bugs as well. If you have an encrypted DMG, try and mount it. Permission denied. Even trying to create a new encrypted DMG image via disk utility, you get a permission denied error. (This has to do with the file permissions inside of the DMG, which are completely messed up. You can sudo su and take a look if you know what you're doing.) The finder is slow to refresh changes (on SMB ext2 formatted networked drives served by a router). On my other MBP, networked drives periodically disconnect. They just drop off. Never had any of these problems with 10.8.
The only good thing about Mavericks is the independent displays, and even then there's some wonky behaviour if you are rotating the secondary display.
I'm incredibly disappointed in Mavericks. But I have hope. iOS 7 was awful for 7.0.1 and 7.0.2, and then 7.0.3 fixed *some* of the issues (although many still remain, mainly how webapps are handled and HTML5 implementation issues.)
/sits back and waits for the fanboys to accuse me of being a hater
I wonder what 10.10 will have? They always seem to focus on really practical improvements (such as battery life) even if it involves system wide changes to achieve. It's quite brave from a software engineering perspective to do that actually.

Weird! What’re you using?

Oh, cool, you finished it for me.
Wait, you knew it all along. What’s with the post, then?
Prove or shut up, please.

Right click the update.
Right click the update.
Right clicking the update doesn't give me anything. No contextual menu, no nothing.

Dudes! They took a surfing locale as the very first one. They could ALL be surfing related!
My favorite one of these: The Wedge.
Too bad they probably won't use that.

perhaps it is you who failed maths, mathematically 10.1 = 10.10
We’re not doing math. Maybe spend less time on math and more time on reading.
So if I owe you $10 or $1000 you'd be fine with $1 because all trailing zeros get dropped?
How the fuçk can someone sign up for this site but not understand such rudimentary things?
