Yeah I read about it at Ars first, too. AppleInsider's "news desk" consists of an inbox full of spam and press releases from analysts touting their latest predictions, and a few submissions from readers. In the past, every time I submitted news, they just ignored it, or posted the story hours later without attribution. So I gave up trying to help them.
I wouldn't rely on this site for news anyway. It's just a collector of stories from elsewhere, with the occasional review or rant (sorry, editorial) from DED.
I will remember this day as a turning point for both android and samsung. If samsung starts to do its own thing, android will lose market share and developers. Samsung has to find new developers first, but it will finally be measurable how many tizen activations there will be and therefore real market share numbers. Also this will fragmentate the market further and i guess not all android partners like retailers will jump on the tizen train directly.
Will be interesting to see how samsung manages it
Don't forget: Samsung and Google are BFFs now, now that they signed their patent cross licensing deal. /s

Google signed one with Cisco too more recently, as did Samsung. I don't particularly get the timing or the need myself but whatever might keep the out-of-control software patent wars from spreading even more can't be bad.
Count backward from the first appearance of this story on The Verge. How long does it take to reinterpret and rewrite the work of another author, ofttimes leaving out critical details only the original writer would understand were critical to the story?
It could take hours (apparently). AppleInsider authors have to carefully inject misspelling, grammar and formatting mistakes, then get it approved by editors, who have the power to reject mistakes that don't look spontaneous enough.
Haven't Samsung and Google agreed to share patents or something? I don't think there's going to be any major break-up between Sam and Goo anytime soon!
Apple and Microsoft signed a patent cross-licensing deal when Steve Jobs returned. And they haven't broken up since.
Well if you are Techie enough which i'm not you can always buy an iPod nano put some bluetooth in it and you get the Galaxy Gear 4 years ago
... and a heart-rate sensor. Oh and a gyroscope. OOPS, and a IR-LED sensor. Dang, you forgot about that camera too. But other than all those things your're right, it's kinda, sorta along the lines of an iPod nano. . . . if it was a rumored iWatch.
I'm not sure what this has to do with my post. I'm having trouble understanding what you're trying to say.
Try harder? you pointed out that some of the Samsung hardware are good and i pointed out that some are not, but also you literally the only one who goes to store to buy a SSD storage and ask for a Samsung SSD all of us we just buy Kingston or Seagate
Does someone have any stats on the number of non-iOS users who would purchase content from iTunes? And what that figure might be once Apple releases a phone with a larger screen? I have my doubts that it would be enough revenue to be worth it. Plus Apple takes away one of the selling points of owning an iOS device. Seems to me people who are Android users by choice (beyond iPhone screen size being too small) probably wouldn't use iTunes anyway. Unless there's this huge swath of consumers who can't afford to own an iPhone but can afford to purchase content from iTunes? Is that a large number of people? One of the reasons I owned an iPod (and now own an iPhone and iPad) is because iTunes had content I couldn't get anywhere else. If I could have easily gotten that content and put it on another device I probably would never have owned an Apple device. Sure Apple needs to increase their service revenues but if it's at he expense of hardware revenue is it worth it?
Good post. And that is probably the main reason Apple doesn't 'share' iTunes... for now. 2/3 of Apple's income is iPhone hardware. Right now they have a few services- iTunes, Apple Maps, Facetime, that add a sense of uniqueness to the iPhone and Apple won't likely share them as long as that is true. There are one or two Apple fans out there who love the feeling of 'exclusivity' they get with the iPhone (no, really!) and they wouldn't like that anyone on any phone could do what they can do.
iTunes *is* growing and becoming a larger portion of that 'other 1/3' category of income. iPhones, at best, can continue to do well, but most likely will stagnate in sales somewhat and get pinched year over year on their margins with continuing declining profits. That is not a function of anything Apple is doing wrong so much as the market no longer growing at 150% year over year and increased competition.
At some point it would make sense for Apple to no longer limit those products to Apple users only and open them up to the open market. They couldn't 'make less' from them, but the question is would people with choices go for them? Would people on Android ditch Google maps for Apple maps or Hangouts for Facetime?
Swiftk3y. Remember: all android apps must use 13375p34k. Makes them more legit.
I quite like Light Flow. Tasker was mentioned earlier and it's frankly magic. The problem is that we are half talking about apps and half talking about features. For example I have a customised VPN solution that I can't use on iOS. I have NFC stickers that I can't scan on iOS. These are for two entirely different reasons.
Mixing the two platforms is pretty damn unlikely, the two have entirely different goals and I don't think that would maintain Apple's margins. I honestly don't know what Apple should make next, but I doubt they'd permit the level of interoperability that these Android apps require.

Your original post lacked clarity which is required when having a discussion with others.
What can I say, credit is due when it is earned. SSD's are one thing they do well, apparently that's too much for you to handle. I doubt I'm the only person here that would use an 840 Pro SSD, some of us desire exceptional performance with low power consumption.
Well you can always buy a strap with camera from china store or a small camera for iPhone if want to spy someone

probably you can add those things too but why waste your time on a IR-LED sensor lol!

I agree and don't think it will sell well outside of tech people. But it is technically impressive, the specs are higher than the original iPhone. And that means there is a slight danger in that if someone could come up with a way to get a really insanely great usable GUI on that little screen, and put an LTE chip in there, some people might start replacing their cellphones with them. Maybe just a few at first, but the GUI would be really hard to get right.
But doesn't work as well as anything Apple has done with hardware.
Hey where you at? ohh i think my logic upset him and made him go away! don't worry i'm troll too you don't need to come here anymore i'll come to you to find more like you and i'll put logic in you trolls!
Sorry, you didn't use any logic. All you did was spew some opinionated nonsense about Samsung copying Apple's products' weight and then about how you think the tablet sucks. What a solid argument. At least you recognize that you are a troll; you said so yourself!
You did have one valid point. The attachment of the name "Pro" may have an attempt to steal Apple's thunder with regards to the rumored iPad Pro.
And just as a disclaimer, I wouldn't buy a Samsung tablet over an iPad.

That when you see a new Apple product you should embrace it and never let it go!
Well I haven't seen the iWatch yet so.......
I saw someone wearing one of the first gen Galaxy Gear. It makes thick nerd glasses and a propeller beanie look less nerdy.

They don't want to risk it

According to the press release, they're 10.0 mm (~0.39 inches) thick.
I just can't stand the look of these things. Only analogue watches for me!
