[quote] Sony-Ericsson has announced that they will not be releasing any new phones, nor did they release any today.. all of the wireless sites have this info now. \

well, your wrong, they have stated as much as that they are announcing 5 new phones this quarter, which leaves three more to be announced. While the info about monday was wrong, the new phone(s) are certainly not...
I guess this is the "Orange" (service provider) version. I'd guess the unbranded will look better. Maybe with metallic blue instead of that butt-ugly orange...
I'm still not very impressed by the design, but lets wait for the official photos, and the european version...
I think that is totally hot. The orange is a bit bright, but I like it. Wait 'till pscates sees this thread..
I know that customers in the US will, for once, be happier then the Europeans. Particularly Sprint customers, as they're getting first dibs. And a bit more. But not a huge amount.
Is the successor to the T68i coming out soon? Is this all new or just a firmware update? Can you give us a time frame?
Will AT&T get it?
Thanks for any info you can or are allowed to provide.

Yup, it's coming, but that shouldn't be a surprise as the next everything is always coming!
It's kind of all new but not all new. All the bells and whistles in that segment are in the market already (bluetooth, colour, communicam-ready, blah blah blah) but it's got better / different approach to games (watch this space) and a different browser. I've got no idea what it looks like whatsoever.
BTW, watch out for "Home Flash" -- do to your phone firmware what you do to your iPod ...
Timeframe errr soon, before CeBIT for certain, no doubt it will end up on all networks but not at first. Dunno exact dates.
No more can I say without pissing off people I like.

Glad to hear you were talking about the successor to the T68i. CeBIT takes place 12-19 March 2003. That's far away. What I wonder is how long it will take from the announcement of this phone to availability on the US market.
Basically, I think I'll be getting a mobile phone in January after two years without one. I haven't decided whether to go with GSM (T-Mobile) or large coverage (the other traditional US providers). If the T68i-successor isn't available by then, will I lose much if I don't wait? I have no interest at all in games. I am most interested in contacts and calendar functionality. Will those two areas see an improvement or not? As for the new browser, that's definitely something I would use. So it might be worth waiting for.

No need to piss off anyone, Harald, especially not people you like. I'm glad to hear you like the people you (presumably) work with. That always adds to job satisfaction.
To be clear there are two phones ... the one for Sprint is very similar to the CeBIT phone, and will be available before hand ...
Personally I am Mr. GSM all the bloody way, but that's because I like to be able to get off the plane in China / Madagascar / Sweden / France / South Africa / Australia / Taiwan / everywhere else and make a phone call! GSM phones tend to be cooler too. FWIW.
'Fraid I know little at this point about the PIM functionality -- but I can find out -- but it's 100% safe to say it will have some that will be at least as good as T68i. The whole thing is cough snappier then T68x this much I know. Browser is closer to the P800 -- can take just about anything delivered via http and render it.
Harald, I may be replacing my wife's Nokia whone soon. Is there a nice entry level SE in the pipeline comparable to the T300? Sorry to add to the bombardment of questions, but I figured you would like the attention anyway.

Harald?
As to when, well, I'll see what I can do. Right now, je ne sais pas.
IIRC the first phone capable of Java games is among them. You heard it hear (reasonably) first.
ehh!?!
Eeeeeeeew.

I dunno why. Probably the strange, misbalanced design of the top. Looks like everything is concentrated down low; making the top look all... Olmec.

Well, if the interface is improved and the date- and addresssbook are more powerful, I couldn't care less about the colo(u)r.
The T316 above looks like a successor to the T300. What happened to the successor to the T68i that was supposed to be introduced a few weeks back?
Harald, what do you know?

One last question: do you know if it will have polyphonic ring tones?

Yup.
Is there any way to rehydrate the cod without soaking it overnight?
