dang, Kins Collins, you will win much respect and love if you are even close (quad G5's---ouch....nothing would come close to catching that puppy on the pc side for some time)...g
I just hope Apple posts the analog satellite coordinates (if available) for next monday's keynote. I have been able to watch live on TV all of S. Jobs' keynotes since MWSF '99 and I certainly wouldn't want to miss this one.
Anyone knows if it will be available again via C/KU band in the clear?
OK now, ?beyond the rumor sites?. The rumor sites are pretty far out there. G5?s with major MHz bumps (pushing 2 GHz), LCD iMacs with G4s, igadgets galore, X.2 out early, X on x86, new iApps, massive new Quad processor rack mount servers, etc, etc, etc...
And now that Apple posted the ?beyond? comment after the previous two days of already pretty hard hyping, the new product rumors are just getting crazier.
That?s a lot to be ?beyond?. Perhaps that is all misdirection. We may get some or all of the above, but beyond all of it?
Hmmmm...
Perhaps in addition to whatever new products are announced, there is another part of this that will "blow us away" and the like other than a new product...
Perhaps a merger, acquisition, or buyout?
Apple has enough cash in the bank to buy SGI for instance. Not sure if they would want to, but hey, who knows. Or maybe Sun could buy Apple?
Or maybe AOL Time Warner buys Apple and uses all their media asssets and leverage with millons of AOL users to push the platform?
An Apple/Adobe merger might be interesting as well.
Or maybe to pacify the remaining anti-trust folks, Microsoft agrees to sell their MBU unit to Apple, including the source code to the Mac version of Office and Office becomes an iApp bundled on all Macs sold...
And there might be bunches of other possibilities along these lines...
I don't claim to have any idea of which things along these lines make sense and which don't from financial or other real world reasons, I'm just speculating that perhaps to be "beyond the rumor sites" there might be something more than just new products, but something completely out of the blue like the above.
Where are all those people from yesterday who said stuff like "when Apple says they're gonna blow people away, they're talking about normal people, not the crazed fanatics like the people who read these boards and trade in G5 rumors"?
Somehow they don't have much to say about today's headline...
<strong>C'mon Steve, i DARE you (double dare you ) to drop a codename in tomorrow's tease... even if its something we've never discussed here... let's hear it!</strong><hr></blockquote>
Yeah Steve! I TRIPLE DOG DARE YOU! (I'm skipping the triple dare and going right for the jugular )
Beyond the rumor sites...hmmmm.
G5 iMacs, G4 Appolo iBooks, G6 Ti Books, dual G6 desktops, X 10.2 which will run any and all software written for Windows even better than PeeCees, and one more thing, the re-introduction of the Cube running a 233Mhz G3 for $4999

How about this. Steve, if you really read these groups, how about saying something at the event, just in your spiel, something that we'll know came from this thread. Something not totally unusual, but something we will pick up and laugh about, while talking about how cool it was that you said it.
As an example...
"This computer is so fast...it goes off like a frog in a sock!"
See...no one would pick that that was just a code to us here at Appleinsider...

I started giggling when I visited apple.com this morning.
We're in for a treat...now if only I didn't have a wedding to pay for...
uh Honey?...where is that ring I gave you?...
Anyone knows if it will be available again via C/KU band in the clear?
Mhz Gap?
<strong>
jared,
I know you know most than most if not all the people here. Are you seriously hinting at a product?</strong><hr></blockquote>

Didn't they find a keyboard in Sphere, and it said "Made in the USA" on it?
So, Steve's big announcement is that Apple will now make all their keyboards in the USA. Way beyond the rumour sites.
