The term "site" does not refer to a single page or content on a home page. Sites are entire web sites, so I believe Apple is talking about AI, Think Secret, Mac Rumors, Mac OS Rumors - the full sites. That doesn't mean each rumor is the truth, but I believe Apple is targeting US - AI Forum members - with this statement.

With this tremendous amount of hype building, either Apple has a totally distorted image of our expectations, or Apple plans to fulfill our dreams in a major way. No other event or product introduction has been hyped into this manner. Apple must now deliver. And they will.

Steve: Yes we build up tremendous hype around this MacWorld and we are sure that we can make you believe that we can fulfil the cliams on our front page. And I know it will take a bit more than my usual RDF (laugther). And to help me do that I introduce THE HYPNO-TOAD

This is insane. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the front page... Hardcore. Steve (who else has balls this size?) is clearly teasing us... I agree in that a G5 is not necessarily coming, and that there is something brewing we might not even have thought of...

Sleep is going to be tough to find uptil MWSF... WIsh I didn't live 8000km from the keynote...

    Folks,

I'm just guessing: applenut and cosmonut are one and the same people.

They are part of the game apple is playing with us.

They permanently put in some creamy information, hype this and that, discuss this and that, feed to wrong places, cheers to this and that, and so on.

They are part (possibly employeed) of apples marketing strategies. I'd call that guerilla marketing. Nothing wrong about that. They fullfill their tasks, making apple the hot dog in town, giving apple the brand of Revol., Inov. and you name it. That's it.

I tell you something: If one member of our favorite ai forums is mentioned personally in one of the next apple tags, that'd be a great deal of evidence of what I'm talking about. If not, it would be even a greater evidence, because they'd try to hide themselves.

Watch applenut, and you'll know the secrets 'bout apple. Don't forget watching yourself, too.

I would not be surprised if it does mean, something completely different is about to happen, something like:

    - Apple splits up in different business units (hard/soft/gadgets)

    - Jobs steps back

    - a merger/acquisition

Yes, Jobs quitting would be way beyond the rumor sites. Or, moving their production back into his parent's garage.

    Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha.

That was my reaction when I looked at today's tagline. It was definitely from a thread in Future Hardware yesterday, wasn't it?

A business split seems not so far off at second thought.

Not an Apple split, but divisions,

    Apple-Store, Apple-Soft, Apple-Mac, Apple-iLine, whatever.

Would fit the shifted time table.

    Announcements:

Apple-Store- will open two new stores in spring, Atlanta and San Diego

    Apple-Soft- announces X10.2 for summer

Apple-Mac- announces all new iMac and all new PowerMac

Apple iLine- announces iVision, FireWire based tapeless CamCorder like device as a new digital hub appliance, comes with iMovie3.

    ...just a wild idea.

Amelio did this, however, and lost billions of dollars for Apple in the restructuring.

Jan 7th....SJ walks out, all in black of course.....and up the the screen pops "G5"...and the crowd goes crazy....and then one more word slowly fades in Below G5....

"everything".....SJ explains after the audience finally stops clapping and screaming that the new G5 chip is so good, so revolutionary, so fast and cool that it is imediately being put into the New Power Mac, the new TiBook, the new LCD iMac and the new iBook....iMac and iBook at 1 Mhz, TiBook at 1.2 and 1.4 MHz and Towers at 1.6, 2.0 and 1.8 Dual......apple stock jumps up and apple share of computer market doubles this year, doubles again for the next 2 years after that......hehehe g

ok, how is that for wild speculation?

[quote]How about this. Steve, if you really read these groups, how about saying something at the event, just in your spiel, something that we'll know came from this thread. Something not totally unusual, but something we will pick up and laugh about, while talking about how cool it was that you said it.

    As an example...

"This computer is so fast...it goes off like a frog in a sock!"

See...no one would pick that that was just a code to us here at Appleinsider... <hr></blockquote>

    Great idea! Or, how about:

"We've created something so amazing here, that even murbot will want to hang onto it."

I might just get a Mac I will want to keep more than a month!

I was giggling like a little kid this morning when I saw that Apple homepage. I won't be able to think of anything else for 5 days.

    [quote]Cool down people!

Actually I think Apple realised that the expectations on the rumor-sites are way out of hand compared to what Apple are able to deliver. I'm sure they have got some great stuf, but no G5 or LCD imacs. This is why they wright they go "beyond".

I'm sorry to soyund this pessimistic. But I stil think i'm right.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Then it would've read:

Way Below Rumor Site Expectations. Way Below<hr></blockquote>

Getting G5s in iMacs would be above the rumor sites. Getting an Apple branded Ginger would be beyond the rumor sites, IMO.

FlatPanel iMacs and G5s are still possible, but I do not think this necessarily guarantees either of them. But it does guarantee some kickass something that we haven't mentioned yet. Something like a tablet, or a car, or a personal teleportation device, but not necessarily G5s.

But I've got one hell of a BSG as well.
