[quote]-eMac price lowered to $899, maybe moves to 800 mhz, possible improved display (both doubtful).

The eMac was JUST made available to the public, I don't think there will be any price drop or upgrades until close to Christmas.

I still doubt a price drop on the LCD iMac. Apple's margins are saving its bacon this quarter. More likely they will bump the speed, bigger HD, etc, to add value (and further separate from the eMac). But a drop of US$100 is possible.

I kind of hope they keep the old G3 iMac, and drop the price to $699. A lot of schools would be happy to equip labs with those if they were inexpensive enough.

Just my 2 cents - wish list - stab in the dark-

I expect the Powermac G4 in a (Yikes II) configuration... no more SDRAM with maybe 1 or 2 of the hoped four mobo improvments. The big daddy will come at MWSF03. New case design will be a blend of Xserve metal and clear plastics. (no white)

I expect speed bumped iMacs also.

Also a new iDevice based on IBM 333Mhz 1.3 watt processor. a PDA killer that is highly functional and uses Inkwell/Bluetooth. I'm thinking it's .5 inch thick and 5 inches wide by 7 inches tall. not ment for the pocket, meant to replace a legal pad or a small note book.

I also expect OS X 10.2 and Quark to announce QuarkXpress 5.1 (carbonized).

Announcement regarding the new processor (e500 - 7500) To be called the G4 plus...

    G4+

I also expect the Master track pro audio editing suite / app with high integration with FCP.

Also, an announcement that Connecix will offer a Virtual PC lite that will ship with all macs made more for conveting.accessing PC files than emulating an OS. (i.e. there will be no Windows desktop, just the ability to print a document or view a PC document only, once again no Windows desktop.)

    MSKR

Regarding looking at Apple's history as an indication of how high the processor upgrades will be, look at what is offered now for the upgrade market. People can get 1ghz upgrade cards by July. I don't think that MWNY will bring 1.2ghz as the top end for the PowerMacs when we see 1ghz upgrade cards floating around. How long have those cards been sitting around about 550mhz? That's a pretty big jump for the upgrade cards, and would indicate to me that history might not go this time as we usually know things go...

    Masker,

    Yikes II? Probably.

    G4+? Fine.

    Notebook PDA? Kooky, but fine.

VirtualPC "lite" on every Mac? Whatever.

But Quark getting their act together!?

Now you've just gone off the deep end!!!

Then it would seem that something was due late 2001 that has been delayed. Surely Steve wasn't talking about the current 1 GHz G4s, as there were 1.4 GHz P4s when he made that statement.

No iMac bump. Power Macs and Powerbooks. Pro focus to this show, pro sales are falling faster than the Nasdaq!

A 17" iMac would certainly be on my wish list, maybe a black edition (like the one pictured in another thread). It looks really cool. But I agree...attention will likely be on the pro machines.

Personally though, I don't think MWNY will be that revolutionary. I think that in 2003 we'll see the killer macs we're all awaiting! That's when technologies like DDR-II, Firewire 2, P2P HyperTransport, PCI Express etc. will be ready for Apple to use in their machines. A perfect time to debut the almost mythical G5, hehe!

In a couple of weeks my guess is we'll see a new enclosure with faster G4's and technology from the Xserve. Just my 2 cents.

    [quote]From October, 2000.

"Some customers feel that Apple has fallen into a MHz gap in regards to Intel," Jobs says. "But we're working closely with Motorola to address this problem. We'll be introducing systems with higher MHz next year. We plan to close the perceived gap in the first half of 2001 and make more progress the rest of the year."
