I use Apple Maps exclusively (I refuse to install google apps on my devices), and it works well for the most part (excellent UI and directions). But there are some very frustrating, and fundamental flaws. I currently live in a large US city (Houston) and twice recently I have made a basic search and was sent to some location in a foreign country. I searched "top golf" and was taken to England; I searched for "813 saint emmanuel" and was taken to Belgium. Sometimes if I type in the name of my city I'll get the correct result, other times not. I reported these a couple weeks ago but no corrections yet, although I did use a bit of an angry tone, so maybe the recipient wasn't particularly motivated to help me out. (Hopefully they do make these corrections though, as these are two very popular locations in Houston, the first being a great combination of driving range, food, and booze, the second being the location for the Houston food truck park).
Agreed with all of this. Same kind of experiences.

There was no argument to counter. Your post was not worthy of anything more or less.

You could start by providing an argument or facts to back up your claim that: (I) Apple 'markets itself as a premium company'; and (II) Apple 'charges premium prices.'

Btw, what is the price of Apple Maps?

My mistake.  Apple is not a premium company and is known for their low, low prices.  :???:

As for the cost of Apple Maps, it'll just cost you the price of some Apple hardware as it's not available on any other platform.  Anyone who would claim Apple Maps is free would be a fool (not that you're claiming that Apple Maps is free).

Apple Maps can be regarded as part of the operating system. Map links are hard-coded to open in Apple Maps,  and the app receives updates through iOS images rather than through the App Store. The ability to run Apple Maps in particular is part of what you are paying for when you buy an iPhone.

So alternate mapping solutions don't require any investment in hardware? What a revelation! I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but this was just too easy.

The total trip was 4.3 miles instead of the 1.3 miles it should have been. I reported the problem way back then. I just checked again when I read this story and did the same test and it is still giving me the same error. You can see the pin below which is correct. No reason at all to drive past and make a circle like it shows and suggests. Luckily I know better but the same things has happened in cities where I am unfamiliar with roads.

To its credit, Maps is just trying to give you time to rethink your decision to eat at McDonalds....

    Pros with maps:
    1. Smooth
    2. Integrated very well with the system
    3. Looks an works great in directions mode

Cons (all of which are beaten by Google):
    1. A lot of ancient map data
    2. Mediocre satellite pictures
    3. Lack of widespread 3D
    4. Lack of contrast in vector mode. (White streets on bright beige... poor design choice)
    5. Yelp aka poor poi information. Yelp isn't even a worldwide service.
    6. The vegetation data is mostly very poor.

Well, a large supermarket and historical park that I notified them of upon launch was added yesterday. Only took them just under two years, great that they finally bothered to get around to it just a shame that they did not increase their staff levels and get this sorted a LONG time ago.

I will consider using Apple Maps again now, the more people that use it the better the data should get. It's just a shame that they cocked up so badly at launch, none of my family use it due to the bad first impression on launch.

Those who bitched in the USA on launch have no appreciation of just how bad it was outside of the States.

It the predecessor to the health-kit in action. Learned what was bad for your and trying to keep you form harming yourself.

But Apple Maps does not have the corned in these kinds of errors I seen Google Maps do far worse and the interesting thing I have been using Wazes for over a year and it was very good until recently and it looks like Google Maps error have creeped into an otherwise decent product.

You are mistaken: it's a general diagnosis, not an "attack."

Don't take things so personally. It's the Internet.

In Evansville, Indiana, Apple Maps shows POI for St. Mary's Medical Center and the Evansville State Hospital and has both of their entire campuses colored pink in Standard View.  However, neither of the two campuses of the other major hospital in the city, Deaconess Hospital and Deaconess Gateway Hospital show up at all, the campuses aren't colored pink and there isn't even a Red Cross POI symbol for them.  Note that these are not clinics, but major emergency and intensive care facilities.  If I search in Maps for "Deaconess Hospital", the result I get is "Deaconess Hospital Airport" which is what I assume they are calling the hospital's helicopter pad.  I have submitted these under "Report a Problem -> Information is missing".  I'm curious to see if, when, and how completely this problem is fixed.

Interestingly enough, they have every public and private golf course in the city thought.
