    I am thinking that 5% will be those still running older devices unable to update. I was quite surprised when a friend informed be he was getting a 5 on eBay and giving his wife his 3s the other day! So they are still out there in use.

    Plus the people with iPad 1's. Some folks still use them (heck, I was considering getting one as an in-car GPS)

    I have a feeling that more than a few people are unable to do an update because they are trying to do it OTA and don't have the 5.8GB free.

    And it's been slightly buggy on my 5s, and rebooted itself 3x on my iPad 3.  The iPad is also now slowing down.  100% certain this is Apple's way of getting ppl like me to upgrade otherwise good hardware.

    Compare this to android, who is still struggling to get a fifth of users on year-old software.

    The changes to iCloud had made IOS8 hard for us. My wife and I always shared the photo stream, but in order to do that, she had to use my iCloud account. Now Find My Friends falls under iCloud, so it's either share photos as we take them or find each other. And don't even get me started on how many times we had to enter passwords.

    It amazes me that people still throw out the BS, just like those who say Apple purposely constrains supply to create artificial demand. Do you reall think Craig Federighi and the software team look for ways to make your 2.5 year old iPad suck so they can get you to buy a new one? If they really were all about planned obsolecense, all about forcing upgrades they wouldn't offer the software to your device in the first place.

    I haven't noticed any serious problems on my 5S or my Air yet.  But to be honest, I haven't had a huge amount of time to use either.  I'm about to head to Starbucks for some reading (need to re-read "Mockingjay" before the movie comes out :) ), and I'll probably play with a lot more than I have had the chance to so far.  So, we'll see.

    But so far, so good.

    I agree that people who purchased the smallest configuration devices are having issues with the OTA update this time around. This was a huge update to the OS after all. I am just curious. What is the iPad 3? I don't remember any product of that name? (Evil grin). I can say that I have seen some stuttering and lagging on my third generation iPad. But, I sort of expected this and was planning on replacing this device this year once the new iPads are announced. I don't feel like Apple is forcing me to upgrade. And I am sure that if I did a reset on the iPad, it might even return to normal. As with any new OS, there will be improvements in the updates. We shall see what comes with the update(s) in Oct.

    Has anyone out there upgraded their 4S?

    (I fear performance issues, since Apple didn't tout efficiency gains like last year; iOS7 definitely seemed faster than iOS6, on my 4S.)

    That's fast.

    I usually wait until the first bug release before upgrading. Not this year as I'll get my iPhone 6 in three weeks.

    Huge Apple fan, but I worry about this too.

    We have two 4Ss.  I was very disappointed with iOS7 since on iOS4, 5, and 6, the interface disappeared as Jony always said Apple products do.  Flawless, liquid, and invisible.

    But with iOS7 I became aware due to the OS-stutters and apps crashes.   Isn't that what we laugh at with Android?

    Now it's not getting some inputs, and is generally "haunted".

    iOS8 makes this bad behavior better, or worse?  It's sad to have to ask that about an Apple product.

    We'll get a pair of 6's in the coming months, but the 4S shouldn't be falling-apart, software-wise, but they are.

    Some struggles more on my iPhone 5, the iPad mini retina seems to be doing fine, but there have been some odd annoyances.

    And Podcasts...It was bad to begin with and thought it would improve. Worse now. It's a mess and it's arbitrary about downloading podcasts.

    Hmm, iOS7 has been flawless for my 4S, and netted a performance improvement.  And rehashing ancient (and now irrelevant) design history wasn't really what I was reaching out to the community about.

    So, to refocus... anyone out there who has already upgraded their 4S to iOS8?  How is it performing now?

    If there's ONE thing that ticks me off to no end with Apple, is that they don't do enough to let people know the IDEAL way to upgrade their iOS devices!

    1) connect to your computer and make a FULL manual backup;

    2) all iOS apps should be updated before hand and closed;

    3) erase the iOS device and set up as new;

    4) do the update to the new iOS version;

    5) restore from your apps and data from your computer.... and also back it up to your computer again at the end.

    I've done this now for a half dozen clients that will benefit immediately from iOS8... as well as my testing iPad 2. Working perfectly fine with scrolling, gestures as well as Safari, with 74 assorted photo apps and utilities here; and I have yet to hear a complaint from any of the other people with newer iOS devices.

    FACT: OTA updates should ONLY be done if you don't have a computer, and are only using an iOS device solo and with iCloud. Period.

    *** Anyone experiencing "odd" problems... should as @digitalclips already stated above: wipe and reinstall ASAP. Everyone else, when you have the time it's STILL a good idea to do a W-n-R every once in awhile. let's put it this way: it doesn't hurt anything.

    BTW: for those searching for a fix to the new Phone 6 camera sticking out (that makes absolutely NO difference when laying flat on a table under normal usage).

    This should do the trick....

    I kept having sudden and immediate shutdowns until I force restarted both my iPhone and iPad. They've both worked fine since.

    Well this is almost quite literally if not statically impossible. They just cut off about 40% of their uses. Is this totally messed up?

    What “cut off”?

    iOS8 is definitely crashing more than 7.1.2 for iPad mini & 5S.  My iphone6 also crashes.  Need an update soon.
