    actually very smart. don't want to be one number behind the mac os. people notice that. and who cares that they skip 9. do you think the iphone 6 is really the 6th gen iphone?

    WAIT A MINUTE.

    No one has made a Seven ate Nine joke yet?!

    This just tells you that the whole is LESS than the sum of its parts.

    I think you meant "7 of 9"

    ... Never hit 8 and 9 17 when you play against the dealer leader -- you know the odds won't ride with you ...

    ... In all the bars along Main Street up in Redmond -- the dreams of the season supremecy All spill down on the floor ...

    Years. are gambled and lost like Summer wages OS releases...

    No no, it will be called:

    WinOS X

    Add just one more letter & MS will finally nail it:

    WindowsuX

    If you look at their build numbers (or whatever), you’ll see why they numbered them the way they did.

    wait there was windows 1 and 2 so they are already at 10 and should be going to 11.

    Does this remind anyone else of Word 2.0 jumping to Word 6.0 because WordPerfect was at 6.0?

    MS is distancing itself from the disasters known as Windows 98 and 98ME.

    And Mac OS X has been so successful. Plus Yosemite is only 10.9.

    Lookout: the next release of Mac OS X will be known as The Terminator (maintains California theme, with Hollywood tie-in)

    what a pathetic rush to match OS X's name.
    From the Verge Q&A:

    <div style="border-bottom-color:rgb(221,221,221);border-bottom-style:solid;border-bottom-width:1px;color:rgb(47,47,47);padding:1em 20px;">

    11:01:42 AM PDT

    <p style="margin-bottom:3px;">Q: Now it's Windows 10, will we see future versions named after big cats?</p>

    11:01:46 AM PDT

    <div>
    <p style="margin-bottom:3px;">A: Probably not.</p>

    </div>
    </div>

    they'll probably slip the cats and jump to:

    Windows OS X Redmond

    I remember when Netscape adopted this strategy - skipped version 4 and went straight to version 5 - and it worked out great for them. Still the leading web browser.

    What the hell is a "Start Menu" anyway? After this many tries, shouldn't Windows be smart enough to start by itself?

    Just you wait. Wouldn't be surprised to see it at all when it gets released.

    They jumped to 10 in hopes of piggybacking on OS X success, and because if they gone with 9 first and waited, they would have been out of business by 10.

    No, what I was meaning was although they may look like ads, those tiles in the start menu are apps. One is the Mint.com app, and the other is the TripAdvisor app.

    I think that's what you meant.

    Windows? I look out of windows.

    If God wished us to use Windows, he would allow us to come back from the dead...frequently.

    NEVER approach a PC thinking "This will only take 5 minutes".

    Windows users often swear at their PC's, whereas Mac users always swear by their Macs.

    In a world without walls and fences,
    who needs Windows and Gates?

    I find it funny that microsofts marketing is working so well they even have apple sites talking about the new version of windows.   If you guys really hated Microsoft you wouldn't be talking about them at all.

    I have to admit microsofts marketing team knows what they are doing. Keep in mind even bashing gets the new windows out there.

    You wish.

    If Windows looked anything like her we'd all be using it.

    I'll bet there were serious discussions at Microsoft of precisely that.
