After 2 days using the iPad air 2, am very glad I upgraded from air. Screen and color much better, everything is snappier, sound louder and stronger bass, wonderful Touch ID. Only complaint i have is that it makes my iPhone 6 feels slow in comparison.
ok, that is it. I am heading to an Apple Store to get the air 2. Now which place is best to sell the air?
Anyone waving an iPad at a pay terminal would look like a complete retard anyway, just like they do holding them up to take pictures. More people carry their iPhones with them, not an iPad.
Yeah, except that taking pictures (or videos) with an iPad gives the photographer a much better [larger] viewfinder with which to compose the shot ...

I use gazelle because it's easy and just works. They're offering $280 for a 32GB wifi Air in perfect condition. i'm sure you could probably get more on eBay or Craig's list but Gazelle is fast and reliable.

In this case, more is more ...
Right... The fact that stability and ability to follow the shot is several compromised, nah, that doesn't matter at all. Not sure how having a larger viewfinder could help composing a better shot. Professional cameras have pretty small view finders for a reason.
A viewfinder that gives more precise colors, whites, could though but you don't need 10 inch one to do so. Using a remote video monitor connected to another camera, like operating a drone, or a director using it to see what the camera operator is filming, that is very usefull.

Hmmm...iPad NFC payment and checkout??
Oh yes. "Four skinny lattes to go please and here...use my iPad as a tray"
There's a user case I see every day...so Apple...fail.

Lack of thoughtful design would be Apple fail.
Not chasing every niche use case would be Sansung fail.
Confusing the two companies' approaches? Troll fail.
I can see, after another few generation of iPhones, Apple coming out with a iPod Nano size device for the sole purpose of ApplePay. Even after a few more generation on iPhones, over 70% of the consumers will still own Android or MS phones. By this time it won't really be canibalizing iPhone sales. If ApplePay takes off and there's no comparable service offered for these non-iPhone owners, then Apple can can tap that market with a small pocket size, say $100 device, with a fingerprint reader, NFC chip and secure chip. It doesn't need carrier service. It doesn't need to take pictures or play music or have a GPS. It won't even need WiFi or Blue Tooth, as the CC info can be loaded in from iTunes on a computer. It could be a way to entice non iPhone owners to purchase an iPhone the next time around. Just like how the iPod (and iTunes) got many PC users interested in buying a Mac for their next computer.
Most people still carry house and/or car keys, so something that would go on a key ring would be nice.
You can read about this in some of the reviews. Previously iPad Air screen was something like 3 separate components (glass, touch sensor and LCD panels I think) with gaps in-between. With iPad Air 2 the screen is optically bonded in 1 piece like the iphone. The image is now closer to the glass surface and without the gaps in-between, the image appears to be of higher contrast and more immediate.
Personally, I think the less-glare and lamination help. I find the black to be more black as well.
If you put an iPad Air and iPad Air 2 side-by-side it is quite obvious, especially if you are comparing high res photos and game images.

Once we get a review from AnandTech on the iPad Air 2 we'll be able to see exactly how much more improved it is.
Apple is failing the basic KISS principle -- differentiating between NFC on the iPad and on the iPhone. That means Apple has to keep code bases different on these devices. It also means, if say, access to my iPhone is not convenient and say I've been using my iPad in the store for reading up on the products, and I have it in my hand, I cannot just swipe the iPad. I might as well use the credit card rather than have to dig out my iPhone.
Or, as in my case, I cannot get an upgrade to the iPhone 6 until December 2015, but I'm due for an iPad upgrade. That means I cannot use ApplePay until Dec 2015 (then I would be purchasing an iPhone 7!).
Apple needs to offer convenience at every turn and remove friction where possible. It makes no sense to not offer the same functionality on the iPad -- pure and simple.
As for the "image" of using an iPad to pay at a register. So, people are so shallow as to not use functionality just in case some bozo (perhaps like themselves) might think some "bad" thoughts about them. Smacks of too much "high school" mentality.
I'm disappointed Apple didn't include the NFC antennas in the iPad, not for making ?Pay payments, but for accepting them. I think that could have helped drive even more iPads used as registers, as well as boosted the number of places that accept ?Pay, which is something that will take longer with the Mom & Pop shops, as it is.
I agree with you. I know things are possibly different in the Bay Area than elsewhere, but iPads with Square credit card scanners seem to be popping up as POS devices all over the place.
If Apple had put the NFC antennas in the new iPad they'd have destroyed Square, but more importantly increased the ease with which small stores could offer Apple Pay.

It seems slightly short sighted to me.
The best answer I've seen (I think in this thread but not sure by who) is that Apple doesn't want to be in the payment processing business at all, and by including the NFC antennas for that specific purpose they would have to, unless they want to open up the NFC components to developers, which seems risky. If Square will jump on that soon enough anyway I'm sure Apple knows that, so perhaps Mom & Pop stores will be offering NFC soon enough… (segue) although Rite-Aide and CVS won't be offering ?Pay for the foreseeable future in favour of their own solution at some later time. I wonder how long that will last.

Nah. Point of Sale will need swipe capabilities for a very long time. NFC is not a comprehensive solution for any store.

Here's an example of where the free market just doesn't work all that well. Standardization is needed here. Getting rid of physical credit cards would have a ton of benefits to end users, but they aren't people that matter. The only people that matter are stores and their determination to harvest our data.
I personally don't worry too much what people use to take pictures. An iPad isn't that much larger than a DSLR.
Camera is great for listing things on eBay, or for quick shots. I don't use it for photography because my iPhone is so much better, but, as always, the best camera is the one you have with you.
Taking pictures with an iPad is makes a lot of sense. Sitting in meetings taking notes with Pages on the iPad, or at conferences, what could be more convenient than taking a quick picture of some part of the presentation which then gets immediately included in Pages document? I've done this on many an occasion.

Love this spin! Next maybe my employer will cut my pay to spare me the stress of deciding how to spend it.

Why/how is the screen and color that much better?

Interesting.
As the great Phillip J. Fry once said:
"Shut up and take my iPad!".
How DO they fit all this wonderful stuff in such a tiny (and getting tinier) package?
I like that gif.
So do I.
It highlights the non-protruding camera lens.
Shame they couldn't do it with the iPhone 6. I look forward to next year's iteration, when they revert to a flush lens after the LensGate backlash.

I wish they'd hurry up. I want to see performance reviews of the A8X.

I didn't know that about CVS. Madness.
