Guess who else spends a lot of money to do the same.

    Google? Samsung?

Not saying that, but hey. It’s the government’s charge not to punish success but to punish abuse of success. Successful abuse, even.

Then the 'evidence' you present on your rebuttal posts are walking-around anecdotal evidence that is statistically meaningless.

Okay. Happen to have these statistics, then? Happen to have an explanation for why I should support this venture given my experience? Happen to have any idea whatsoever about the topic at hand? How is anything supposed to change in this regard when nothing is physically changing? So they’d be “classed” as something else. Does that magically build more modern infrastructure? Do I magically get faster speeds, cheaper prices, and more companies in my area? Of course not. What does it do? Can you so much as guarantee to me that I would have even a single additional choice of ISP? Particularly given that I have no choice in electric or natural gas companies under the system for which you are campaigning?

The left, but I’m glad you took it back in a non-PO direction.

Now Obama is the only president to ever play golf.
On Aug. 8, 2014, Knoller tweeted that Obama had taken 19 vacations totaling 125 days so far while in office. Those numbers have risen a bit due to the Martha’s Vineyard vacation, but that’s still many fewer than George W. Bush’s 65 combined trips to his Texas ranch and his parents’ home in Kennebunkport, Maine, which totaled 407 days at the same point in his presidency.

Not included in this data are trips to the Camp David presidential retreat in western Maryland, which Knoller doesn’t count as "vacation." Knoller told Yahoo! News that, through Aug. 12, 2014, Obama had made 33 visits to Camp David for all or part of 84 days, while Bush had been there 108 times for all or part of 341 days.

So GWB stopped playing golf. So what? He took a lot more vacation time, let 9/11 happen, OBL wasn't caught on his watch, and the economy went into the shitter because of his policies, after he destroyed with Clinton did. Now we have Obama fixing all that crap but now it's his fault it happened under GWB's command. Makes sense¡

Regardless of how you feel about him, his "race", policies, or anything else (as those are irrelevant here) only a fool would say we're worse off than when he took office, or that GWB left office better off than when he took office.

I'm pretty happy with the "government bureaucracy" that's given me 80Mbit/20Mbit with no caps or throttling for $30 (inc. tax). I'm sure people in places like Sweden, where the connections are even better, don't have many problems with government bureaucracy either.

Comms, both fixed line and mobile, is one area that needs to be heavily regulated to ensure competition. Do you remember all that time and money that America wasted on the GSM vs CDMA battle?

Or maybe because he's a democrat. And it's politics as usual.

I feel it''s close-minded ignorance in people like ??? that destroy every society that has ever existed.

That would go along with policies, but you're right, if one is such an asshat to care more about the party label than what the party member is trying to accomplish that you'd cut off your nose to spite your face then they are far below the ignorance I imagined.

Do you have a problem with what the President is proposing? How is what he is proposing anti-consumer?

I figured you would cop out. Because any news source that disagrees with your distorted world view is the boogeyman.

No one said anything about race. Is that what the left does? Name calling and playing the race card where it isn't applicable?

I think Soli has a point in one sense. The white Vice-President and his puppet President get away with the worst atrocity in US history, lying in order to invade Iraq and destabilize the Middle East for a generation (or two, or three), yet the black President gets pilloried for trying to get healthcare for everybody, with the white Congress vowing to ruin his presidency from day one. It's transparently racist, but the worse aspect is that white authoritarian personalities are bootlickers, and always have been. They quiver inside when they see Ollie North's medals on his chest, or hear Boehner's barking voice.

I hope this torpedoes the thread, and the mods take out the whole discussion.

Edit: Sorry, TS, I gave in to temptation.

Really? You think this will solve the problem? How big are those taxes anyway? Btw, who do you think is the biggest maker of optical fiber in the world? And, while at it, who will "spur on" domestic manufacture, and how?

Don't you understand the free market is God therefore infallible. Corporations will  always do the right thing when money is involved. /s

    Aside from competition.

I don't have an issue but as they say, the devil is in the details.
