New stats showing devices activated during the week of Christmas reveal that Apple commanded the lion's share of new mobile purchases, accounting for more than half of all device activations by manufacturer.
I'll speculate and nit-pic: If the raw data show that 51% of the activations were Apple, does this mean 51% of the sales were Apple? I think not. I think if I receive an Apple product as a gift, I get excited and activate it. I think if I receive an Android gift, I have another glass of xmas wine and say "maybe tomorrow ... maybe next week." I therefore think Apple had less than 51% of the sales.

You may be on to something there... A good percentage of the android devices are still being re-gifted or maybe taken back to the store and replaced with an ugly sweater.
- USB port (storage interchange). - SD card port (storage interchange). - Video-out port (for Keynote and PowerPoint presentations). - Decent file system (see files inside like Mac). - No sandboxing (open any file with any application). - No jail. No jailbreaking needed (for obvious reasons).

I'm trying to determine if you just forgot the /s, or if that was a deliberate attempt by a Fandroid at trolling on a pro-Apple site... :???:

OK, judging by your post history, you've definitely got a hard-on for the MacBook Air, seem to be a fanboy galore of OS X, and are an anti-iOS troll, and seem to have a particular disdain for U2... That would make you a hybrid Apple fanboy / troll all-in-one...
BTW, iOS is also for work, use it all the time. You need to leave the 80's and 90's alone, they don't love you anymore...

In GermanY, an ad from an actual event at one of Europe's largest elecronics stores. Here's the short cut, with the full cut on FB. All Apple devices except for some GoPros and Nikon gear scooped up in 3:00 minutes...
Either that or they get put in a landfill along with old Atari 2600 copies of ET
Actually, this is a good question: what does happen to all of that old unsold electronics gear in the video above for example?
Certain unnamed media trolls like to point to Apple when making accusations of labor hardships manufacturing their wares. However, almost every last device made is sold to a happy customer. Contrast that with similar labor conditions and valuable resources going to waste literally in devices that will never see the hands of anyone other than those that made them, and those that took them apart again to recover the valuable raw materials.
There's a truly good story in there if someone cared to investigate it.
Just for trivia sake: Media Markt is owned by the conglomerate Metro AG along with the other major European electronics retailer, Saturn. This is the very some conglomerate that stopped Microsoft from using the name "Metro" for their new interface.

Problem, we don't know what a "small phone" is by the definition of Flurry. The iP5s could already be a "medium phone".
Furthermore the more affluent phone buyers could have decided that the iP6 is too big and they wait for Apple to possibly create a reasonable sized phone with state of the art technology again next year. (which does not challenge the big success the iP6 series is!)
I could also argue the iP6plus isn't a big seller because all "phablets" are just 15% of the whole phone segment, but I can't because we don't know Flurry's definitions.
Say what? Flurry doesn't install "tracking software" into your phone. App developers include it with their Apps so they can capture data about how the App is being used. Similar to how App developers install crash detection and monitoring software to capture data when Apps crash to help with eliminating bugs.
Lots of App developers use Flurry, and I'm quite sure if there was something going on (like Flurry is recording information about you) that it would have been picked up by now. The source code is available from Flurry for free to anyone who registers.
If they’re not recording information then how do they know you activated a phone, and its size?
Well it's been about 2 weeks since I went from a iPhone 5 to a 6 plus and loving it. Still getting used to the size difference but love the form factor and extra screen real estate.
I've grown pretty used to the size now. So much so that I find my wife's 5S tiny whenever I use it.
I also keep toggling the mute/ orientation lock switch on my iPad Air whenever I want to turn it off. And I hold the home button a little longer expecting it to unlock till I realise it does not have a fingerprint scanner!
I have never used any iPhone as much as I have used my 6Plus. And I have used all of them except the 6.

I think the Gold shine has worn off this time around, since most of the 6Plus models available here, specifically the 128GB ones, are Gold. Space Grey and Silver are really hard, if not impossible, to get right now.
The larger iPhones will kill everything _ mostly for those who want and can afford them. Just my opinion. I have the 6+ and it does 98% of anything most people would do with all other devices: phones and tablets and regular computers. I ended up returning mine. It's a great phone, but a compromise of a phone and an iPad - a compromise some of us not willing to take. Despite its size, prefer the 5S overall. A 5S + iPad seem like a perfect combination - although you do have two devices.

I like the gold color, but wish Apple offered it with a black front. Same with the silver. I find the gold and silver get washed out due to the white front, but just my preference.

Went back to an iPhone 4S and hated it. Bounced back to an iPhone 6 (no +) Gold. Just the right size - depending on your situation.

iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C only accounting for 2%?

It goes to the same place sold electronic gear eventually goes to. The garbage.
