    Excellent article.

But why the question mark at the end of the first sentence? Is there some doubt as to whether they actually did report their biggest quarter?

    they forgot a few numbers

number of 'professional' analysts that got it wrong year over year= 315

number of abso-bloody-lutley ridiculous articles about apple never getting it right and/or about to go under= 212k and counting.

No. That's not what Apple does or is about. Part of Apple's successful formula is remaining true to its own principles.

Yep, MS is in the death spiral. Apple killed them when they did the free update since they still make money selling hardware which MS currect mostly gives away.

When you whole business model is based on making money on selling Software and support services you can not give away hardware and software and survive.

Not sure how they can offer it free to manufacturers, though. I'm sure they will charge them something, although probably not much.

Too bad PC manufacturers are stuck with selling a lot of their hardware cheap in the race to the bottom, then have to put all the junk software on PC to make any profit.

There was an HP executive who a few years ago said that HP had to sell a pallet of laptops to make the profit of a single iPad.

Apple builds the price of OS X into the hardware. Nothing is free and the end user pays something for development.

I believe it is a typographical error. But please double check with AppleInsider directly, as my theory is mere speculation.

You still need to buy the first copy.  They moved to Apple's model.  You buy one license with a new PC.  All updates are free for the life of that PC.  I'm not sure if they defined how long that is, but I imagine it is at least 2-3 years of free updates.

    I believe it is.

Here is a screenshot from the main article page:

    No issue.

Now here is my posting into the forum from the main page.
Test: Apple reported the biggest quarter in its history this week %u2014 and one of the largest by any company ever %u2014 by nearly every metric imaginable. AppleInsider puts those mind-boggling numbers into perspective.

My best guess it it doesn't like those non-ASCII, Unicode character. So maybe it's not the forum SW, but I think we can say it's some code that interacts with the forum SW when they post an article.

According to progressives, socialists and Marxists, Apple "didn't build that", therefore no amount workers are paid and no amount Apple is taxed will be enough.

Here's a stat for you: Apple sold iPhones at a rate 3.8 times faster than world population growth.

My boss is all about Motorola, Android and windows. I hear about it everyday.  I only  buy Apple products. If Apple doesn't make it, I try not to buy it.

He is so anti-Apple. I told him today, soon only he and the Taliban will not be using iPhones. :)

    Best

With that cash hoard, Apple could buy 480 of the 502 companies in the S&P 500.

But when someone says Apple should ditch 16GB storage and start with 32GB these same progressives say that's ridiculous and Apple's #1 goal should be to maximize profits for shareholders. ;)

    Mind-boggling.

Nah - take out Samsung by buying Intel. Don't sell off the pieces, appease everyone by guaranteeing x86 chips will still be built (but stop future development unless you plan on keeping Macs in that architecture), kill off Atom and re-task those foundries.

We will see articles and/or predictions from anal-yst that "this is unsustainable growth and Apple will stagnate." There's nothing but declining sales and profits!
