I wish the Apple UI peops would view these threads to see how people are using the doc in the real world. Two words...."Holy Bjebus".

You can group things in the doc right? (e.g. an office icon that when clicked displays icons for all office apps in separate window). I couldn't stand having a minescule single hierarchy doc with 40+ apps.

Is there a UI guide on what should be in the doc as opposed to the desktop?

    cheers,

    Justin

I just place my most used apps in there....everything else gets an alias in an Apple Menu-esque folder (the one with the ti Apple logo.) People with docks that are forced to have icon sizes ~16x16 are insane and need to be put in a padded room for a few days.

I use LaunchBar to launch applications and I have a couple of folders in my Dock. Only the application I have running show in the Dock, I find it easier to see witch applications are running and the alt-tabbing is easier and faster to.

If you want to post a high-quality picture, use a lossless compression format like PNG. That should shave several KB off the total size, making it easier for everyone to download.

Check your /Library/Desktop Pictures/Nature/ directory. Or if you've accidentally deleted that, you can also pull the image from the Forest screen saver in /System/Library/Screen Savers/.

That's an icon set called grass in the dock made by iheartny.com You use photoshop to apply grass to your icons or use thiers to make it look like you have vegitation in the dock.

How did you get the dividers in the dock to appear as black dotted lines? Its much easier to see. Is that standard with Jaguar?

Edit: Now I see the original divider is still there...
