Only Under 15 Million? Not a shabby number for 3 months for a Gen-1 product. So, how many did Samsung Gear, LG, Moto 360, etc. sell? I bet it is no where close to this number. Even collectively! And that too for an OS that has much higher market share. Wall street and all their analysts need to be more realist. I think by such reports, the analyst are creating expectations of 15 Million of Apple Watch sales. Even with supply chain issues as it has been claimed by the analysts, who thinks they are lot more smarter than the Supply Chain Guru (Tim Cook), I think Apple will once again blow past this 15 Million number. One more think, if the analysts are claiming there is a supply issue, why would Apple introduce three additional case factors? Would that not take away the manufacturing capacity from current cases? I really wonder the intelligence level of some of the analysts!

Second, it really is all about the notifications, receiving Reminders, Messages, calendar invites on it is fantastic. So it will get much better when third party Apps provide the ability to respond (e.g., WhatsApp, FB Messenger). Email is a problem.
    ...
(And no, health is useless. 10,000 steps a day means nothing. And I certainly don't need a watch to tell me if I walked a lot or not. After all, I was there....).

i feel the inverse -- i have no desire to respond to emails *on my wrist*. we got ours for the activity use cases -- it's more than a pedometer. as a software dev im sitting all day, i dont get up and walk around. the activity goals, taps, and game theory are sufficient motivators to get me to walk, and be more active via exercise. my gf jobs more now that she can "get credit" for it, and, inverse, wont complete her rings if she doesnt. YMMV.

This has to be the worst product launch for an Apple product (ever). I understand the logistic problems a custom product can bring but Apple pulled the trigger to quickly on the Apple Watch perhaps due to marketing windows and the calendar of future product launches. I'm a die hard fan of Apple products and have been since the early 90's but there is no excusing this launch although I'm sure many here will try just that.

no, dude -- the worst product launch for an Apple product (ever) would be the one where nobody bought anything. this is seems to be the exact opposite -- it's estimated that they sold more at launch than any other apple product in history.

Depends, not having to cram all that data over BT might help save battery life.

perhaps. but the real threat to battery is that the upcoming third-party native apps will work so well you wind up using more of them more often, which is what eats the battery.

Then again, that website is a troll haven, with articles meant to attract the flies.

yeah, it is. i prefer it's frontpage for headline consumption (AI is such a busy mess), and scan the top-posts for a thread to gauge opinions, but im losing interest due to the top-heavy troll ratio. it's hardly worth my time anymore.

thats what i prefer about AI -- the forums here arent as infested w/ mouth-breathing trolls.

speaking of which -- guess who showed up on MR? BF. hes pulling his same racist troll schtick there...ive flagged him a few times, hopefully he gets banned but not yet.

Liquid Metal would be cooler!! Much cooler!! I hope that happens - it seems that Liquid Metal would be great material for a watch.

why? w/o a visible sarcasm tag, and not knowing anyone here personal, and seeing a few trolls come out, theres no reason to not assume the worst. if he or you is being sarcastic, use the /s tag. otherwise, you get what you get.

I don't know what the solution for email is, and it is a difficult problem. But I hope they come up with a better solution than the current one. It doesn't have to be to allow writing of long emails. Maybe they can just truncate them more; display them as if they were texts? Split the threads up like they do in Apple Mail?

Activities can be a "fun" thing. But if you felt you needed to walk more, it shows that you already knew that without the watch ;-) The reason I don't do more exercise is not because I don't know, it's because I am lazy.

Fair enough. I did not write that "funny" post (is it sarcasm, not sure) but thought it was obvious. Especially because "small" could not refer to number of units (that would have been "few") but only to relative size. Anyway, now I know what /s stands for.

15 million on a brand new product that could have been a flop, only out for like 4.5 months at that point, is fabulous

the solution is to move to an appropriate tool for composing emails on. that's it. not all tools try to be all things. do you hammer with a screwdriver? why not?

you missed the point. we all know we should eat less and do more, but concrete goals, reminders, and game theory are effective techniques for motivating many people. sorry it doesn't work for you, but that doesn't make it useless.

I know what it is, but unless you've seen a watch or similar made out of LM, I fail to understand why you believe it's a great material for a watch. what devices have you seen made of it? touched? examined? so please - share your research in this field of metallurgy....

It seems hard to draw inferences about demand when it isn't even available to purchase in stores yet. I suspect there are a lot of people, and maybe particularly women, who want to be able to try it on and then buy the one they want on the spot. Scheduling an appointment to try it on and then placing a separate order online is kind of cumbersome.

Until Apple has good availability at retail, I don't think we'll have a very clear sense of what the real demand is.

Bingo. Until Apple has the watch in stores on a wide scale, for people to play with it is impossible to judge demand. If anything, all that can be concluded is demand is waning for people who will buy it sight unseen. That might not even be a fair conclusion because if Apple is increasing production and the ship date in July is still not moving, then demand is still constant or possibly increasing.

Not in an app, just when asking Siri a question. For some things like weather, movie times, and sports scores, it works pretty well and you get a helpful response tailored for your Watch's screen. But if Apple hasn't crafted a Watch-specific format for the info you requested, it generally offers to do a web search for you, using Bing, and with the results only accessible from your phone.
