I think you just discovered the only plausible use for the side 'edge' screen, a poker app (you're welcome samsung). Otherwise, the 'edge' is just a ridiculous distraction that takes away from the experience. samsung is like an overzealous cook that ruins a dish by adding too many ingredients, leaving a bad taste in the mouth.

Such an innovative name. Disgusting. How about taking out any mention of the iPhone (6 Plus) and just calling it the "Galaxy S Edge"?

That actually rolls quite nicely off my tongue. Anyone else with me on this?! ????

Better yet, the "Samsung SL Edge"! Get it?!

Samsung have been using 'Plus' since at least the S3 and have used that designation on many product variants so it's unreasonable to accuse them of copying Apple.

I've been trying to figure out what the practical reason is for the edge display in this phone.

From CNET: Mostly, you'll use the Edge screen to view notifications for email, texts, missed calls and app activity. These notices flash on the sidebar strip without you having to check on them.

And it costs US$100 more than the regular S6.

So you can leave your phone face down and squint at the edge for notifications? Yea, that's cool.

No. What's cool is leaving your phone in your pocket or purse or a completely different room in your home, completely out of your line of sight, and glancing at your wrist for notifications. I mean, how often is your phone lying edge-on when you get notifications, just so you can ooo-and-ahh at the novel edge display?

Having the side of the phone for a display is a gimmick imho. What this forces the user to do is never have a case for it. When I first got my iPhone 6+ it really easily slipped out of my hand , ridiculous, So I bought a see thru  spongy type case for it and its perfect it doesn't slip out of my hand at all and when  it does it has never  suffered any damage. This edge screen typically exemplifies bone headed design and is typical of Engineers who think "what a great feature" without thinking about simply  ergonomics , not only is it stupid because simply holding the thing activates the touch screen and therefore causing unwanted functions to trigger and thus  will be a nightmare to get it to work, on top of this  fact  the first time the user drops it on concrete  it will most likely shatter the glass. Dead on arrival.

I forgot the /s tag at the end of my post.

I agree, the Watch excels at this "remote notification" function; the edge display is near useless (for this function).

I think Samsung and LG are trying to "one-up" each other with their edge/curve display technology, despite any real usefulness. A solution in search of a problem.

I find it ironic that Apple is frequently accused of form over function, yet so many Android trolls get a hard on for stupid, niche novelties like the S6 Edge.

Until Samsung actually release the model and its name, the whole article is nothing but speculation

If someone copied 'Plus' then Apple did. Just for those saying Samsung did copy from Apple, these 12 Smartphones have already 'Plus' in their names:

    Galaxy S Plus

    Galaxy S II Plus

    Galaxy Ace Plus

    Galaxy Y Plus

    Galaxy Core Plus

    Galaxy Trend Plus

    Galaxy Pocket Plus

    Galaxy S5 Plus

    Galaxy Star Plus

    Galaxy Mega Plus

    Galaxy Star 2 Plus

    Galaxy S3 Neo Plus

Obviously this would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Edge, not the S6.

The only thing the Edge screen is good for is looks, but it does look good.

You 'knew', because you were perfectly aware that claiming mimicry was completely disingenuous.  Stating that Samsung are copying Apple in using the word 'plus' is itself trolling.  You might as well claim Samsung are copying Apple by using plastics to make phones from since Apple make the 5C from plastic.

LOL. Ad hominem attacks don't strengthen your weak position. You got nothing, and you know it.

We are talking about smartphones. Or are you saying Apple invented the word 'Plus'?

Besides that I did not say 'Plus' belongs to Samsung.

It is just stupid how many fans show knee-jerk reflexes in saying Samsung copied from Apple.
