That's never going to happen. Too many land based restrictions on content.

And that sucks. I can watch Food Network live on my iPad at the gym using my DirecTV app. ESPN or any local CBS/ABC/NBC/FOX station? No way. So stupid.

With Charter you get basic and expanded cable for 29.99 a month. How's this going to be a better deal ?

    It won't.

Take Hollywood's average monthly revenue, divide it by the number of people on Earth who can afford a set-top box, and make that the monthly fee to be able to watch anything and everything that exists on demand. Why is this so hard to put together?

Affiliates have very defined boundaries so that they don't step on each other's toes. It all has to do with advertising revenue, and the amount of viewers that watch the advertisements.

Are you also annoyed that you have to wait for iPhone9?  I mean seriously.  Apple will bring it out when everything is in place, not a second sooner.

All irrelevant. The Apple TV is an Apple product that grossly overdue for update and enhancement. Forget competitors. There are no competitors. It has fallen behind its own brethren in the ecosystem.  I'm annoyed at having to wait for AppleTV to catch up to the innovation of iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I'm annoyed at having to wait for AppleTV to get a faster A-series chip for better AirPlay experience, 802.11ac for better network performance, and a better UI that works somewhere near as well as iOS.

interesting that they are going this route with "streaming" local affiliates over the internet.  Couldn't they just make a $10 HDTV antenna dongle that one could add to their aTV.  Eyetv has been working this way for years.  Imagine a one time fee of $10 that would get you free over-the-air tv with DVR capabilities.  Perhaps you might pay a little more for TV guide info and cloud dvr storage but why not go that route?

People have gotten too lazy to hit the input button, and change the channel using their TV remotes.

Thats so 1980's.  That won't work on your iPad/iPhone

Yet 1980s is what people are doing now. Get a Slingbox with a tuner and transmit the OTA signal onto the net and onto your iDevice.

Comcast will simply capitalize by charging new extra fees when you go over set levels of bytes downloaded over their internet connection.  And if you use some other internet company, they too will want some extra $$$ when everybody starts streaming a bunch of data.

You sound like a little spoiled brat.  You should be mad at the content providers not Apple.

Its just like iTunes/iPod.  Apple would be stupid to release the iPod without iTunes.  Same with the new AppleTV.  They ain't going to release the Mega version until the content deals are done.

Except the iPod launched in 2001, iTMS was 2003. Your point fails.

Don't have a DVR Box. But to rent from them is 9.00 per month.

They don't charge extra for other outlets. I have 3. Bedroom, living room and den.

Fck the Roku. We need Apple to do what they always focus on: User Experience. Currently, user experience in ATV is shit to be honest. You don't have to defend Apple on this, but it's reality.

I have an older Roku I can't use anymore due to wireless interference, but it's really not a bad product. For Netflix I use the PS3 though, that was their lead platform for years (and may still be).

What about Xbox...lol..? Oh, you got to try Netflix app on Xbox 360; it just take 5 minutes to load...a damn joke. Also, Youtube app on Xbox 360 using Kinect comments, crash constantly when it doesn't understand the commands. MS hardware + Google's app = a joke hell.

    $9 for DVR but what about HD-DVR?  For TimeWarner its $25 a month.  Or $300 a year.  If you have 3 TV's that's $900 a year.

With an AppleTV/Cloud you won't need to pay that $900 a year, every year.  That's where AppleTV will be killer.  Plus a better interface.  Cable/Sat interfaces have been an utter joke POS.

Brainiac, nobody gets 3 DVRs. You get one for the whole household, and the other STBs access the one.

You meant you? Because I had legitimate comments and that's what majority of ATV fans also comment.

Its not just about tech.  You gotta be able to install an attenna on top of your roof or attic and run coax cable to each room with a tv.

Add the costs of professional installation of the attenna, cost of a sling box, cost of cables you are getting close to $500 just to set up the damn thing.

Most homes are already wired from old cable connections, and I still see tons of antennas up from way back when, or you can access the unencrypted signal from the cable company with a QAM tuner. The free channels you can get OTA are transmitted that way over the coax.
